Bottom line is we can't lose a game and I'd be surprised if I'm wrong, but I could be. Regardless of my unpopular opinions of our HC, he's flat out playing with a better hand than anybody in the ACC save maybe clemson at home. So in spite of my bias, I think we are set to make a run, but we just can't lose.
We are set up to make a run for as long as Jimbo is here. He will recruit well enough to win any game on our schedule any year. I am one of those who believe we have to be capable of winning on the road to make any run, so I don't wait around for every other year when we get Clemson and UF at home to think we have a chance. That being said, the odds are against us winning it all, but the odds are against every team to win it all. So it's tough to do, and if we fall short, it doesn't mean our coaches are incompetent and "can't get the job done".
I am of the opinion that we have just as good of a shot of winning it this year as last year. Need health on the Oline, competent QB play and a few guys to step up on D. Schedule sets up nicely.

We lose to Clemson or Florida or both.
Fortunately, I feel like this will be the year we don't stub out toe in the ACC. But we won't make the title game with 1 loss. Only an SEC team can do that.
We will however finish with a better record than the Gators. I think we finish 11-1 and UF finishes 9-3. They lost too much on defense to be a contender in 2013.
Scalp 'Em Seminoles!!!
Absolutely. Schedule set us up. New QB will be well prepared for Clemson and we flat out have a better all around team. I don't think we will play in the title game but we could. Winning the title game would be an extremely tall order.
25/1 to win it all.
I will say that after last year I'm looking forward to less hype and not being expected to run the table.
Stop us if youve heard this before: Alabama is favored to win the next national championship.

Hard to see us winning the NC with a new QB. Also ???? At kicker. But the rest of the team is set up to get us there. If the defense can get us turnovers in key games lookout!!!
Yes, winning the title game would without a doubt be the toughest game we play.
I would be honored to have FSU be Alabama's sacrifical lamb in the MNC game this year.
This is one of the keys to the season, IMO, and it gets overlooked based on importance. We have had stellar kicking for about a decade. We need Aguayo to be the man.
"It's not the SEC conference vs. the ACC conference," "It's Florida State vs. Auburn." --Lamarcus Joyner
We are as loaded as anybody personnel wise on defense, but we will need good QB play, consistent OL play, and our special teams (kicker & punter) to come through.
Everyone else has had their crack at the SEC. Oregon, OSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame. It would be awesome if we put a stop to the dominance. Beating an SEC team for all of the marbles would be one of the best moments in program history.
We have the players to beat to anyone in the country and definitely on our schedule. It will be up to the new staff and how quickly they can come together. Also we have to fix what was inherently wrong last year and that's a lack of 60 minute focus. We didn't play a complete game all year. It's time for Jimbo to keep the fire stoked. Every team has a few unimpressive wins but we had about eight of those last year.
No more slow starts. Or letdowns after racing out to a big lead against a mediocre team that has no business hanging around. Force turnovers and don't give it away. Smart, disciplined 60 minute football and there isn't a team on our schedule that can beat us. I know I sound like Captain Obvious but that shoulda been last year.
If we got into the title game this year by running the table, got 37 days of hype saying we are the lamb going to slaughter against TAMU or Bama and we went in and won. It would be the pinnacle of our program. The coverage would be unceasing. Boosters pouring in out of the woodwork, etc.
lets just play a good game against pitt, and stay humble.one thing we will have a better throwing qb,and game management than last year.teams will respect us if our qb is the leader of our team from game one.last year in 9 of our games the qb looked confused, and inconsistant.its not his fault though its jimbo's fault the kid could'nt run jimbo's complicated offense.
Yeah. Damn you Jimbo and your stupid offense that keeps cranking out NFL 1st and 2nd round QBs.
jimbo has an awesome offense, but ej could only operate it at maybe 65%.i love fsu,but we had poor qb play in 9 games especially against uf/vt/gt/ncst the qb was confused in those games.ej is a better athlete than trickett, but trickett will operate that offense at 90% because it fits his style of play better.
I'm not disagreeing, but it's kinda tough when he refuses to run.
Well, that's how runs tend to work. It's just easier said than done.
Don't disagree that we had erratic QB play this year. Sometimes very good, other times decent, and sometimes very bad. I don't think the offense is too complex and I don't think EJ didn't understand it. I think EJ overthinks it sometimes. Also, Clint is so physically limited compared to the other two. I really like the young man, but I can't concede the job to him yet.
There are high school offenses that use more passing concepts than the 2012 FSU passing offense.
The offense was very simplified in 2012. Tailored to fit EJ's strengths and hide any weaknesses.
By no means complicated. Maybe 4 different core run plays and 7-8 core passing concepts, from different formations/personnel. Not complicated at all.
The entire nation would be pulling for us. However, I think bama will be better this year than last.
