We could schedule a home on home with someone for them to come to Tally in 2013 and get a quality opponent just like we could have this year but chose Savannhah st.
It really isn't that tough unless you want to pay someone 400k for a one off.
However, we still have an open date. Hopefully we are trying to get a quality opponent because we need it.
Not trying to flame but I feel bad for you guys as fans... That home schedule is horrific.
No excitement factor for any of those games.
Attendance will suffer even more
Really, really hope ticket prices are adjusted accordingly. But I doubt they will be.
My understanding Idaho will not replace Nevada we will play both. It's a horrific home schedule. I agree Laura they should severely discount season tickets this coming year or annouce a move to another conference. That would justify for me paying money for this schedule. If they don't i will seriously consider dropping my season tickets its just not worth the money to me because this administration never learns. I know people are going to say the ACC moving from 9 to 8 acc games last minute left them scrambling. I think that's complete bs they could schedule a home an away with a good team there is no NCAA requirement to have 7 home games.
Agreed, Ktown. I just got our seats upgraded this year and I'd hate to lose them but I can't justify $50 bucks x 4 seats for these games when I won't be attending and won't be able to recover face value when I sell them.
And the adm will complain about attendance.
It wasn't going to be simple, but we had a lot more flexibility this time than last year. Because of the switch back to an 8 game conference schedule, we could have offered a home-and-home with a team - to play in Tallahassee in 2013 and on the road in 2014. Instead it sounds like we're going for Idaho this year and a neutral site game next year. Maybe those were our best options, but I'm not going to accept that blindly. Up until a few days ago, when they announced a 1 year deal with UTEP, Texas A&M had an open spot next year and needed a home game in 2014. Did we ever approach them and discuss the possibility? BYU apparently still has an open date on next year's schedule. I'm sure there are others. I mean, if the folks at FSU want to come out and say they made a purely monetary decision and knew that they were trading quality for a few extra bucks in being able to play a home game in 2013 and a neutral game in 2014, then that's fine - they should say it. But I hope we don't get a year of excuse-making from those guys and pretending like it was their only option.
For now!! Nevada wants out and they may just bite the bullet and pay the 450K fine. That would mean we would have 1 open slot, so don't expect anything more than a South Alabama to come to town. Look, if we were pressed for time (which I doubt, other teams don't seem to have a problem finding quality opponents) then we could have scheduled a 1 time neutral site game that would have brought in some good revenue as well as gave FSU a great OOC opponent..
The buyout is $600,000 so they would have to find someone willing to pay them more than 1.2 million to be better off. I highly doubt they will. FSU will let them out if they find a comparable opponent to play us. Hopefully the FSU administration doesn't think Idaho is comparable but who knows these days.
