Posted this on another site and got some good reaction...
When 247 Staff are calling them to get information. But it would be nice to ask them when they de-commit why the hell they ever commited when they were not 100% sure. Ask them if it is because they are media whores? Ask them if this is the only time in their life they were important? Ask them if this is just a case of economics and they just want to get paid? Then tell them if they want to take 5 visits then take them, do not name a leader and do not commit. Once you commit then shut it down. This crap about today I am commited but only lightly is just BS. I would love to see one of these kids go on camera on NSD and then have the paper pulled and tell them F-off. Whew, got that off my chest.
Also lol if I was a recruit I would use all my officials just lol at getting mad at kids trying to find the best fit.
So, let me get this straight---you are advocating that adults in charge of major institutions (like FSU) act like 18 year old high school children?? To what? Teach them a lesson? Just a guess here, but I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that you don't have any teenagers.
Agreed the media allows these to play these games. I think they can questioned tactfully that at least exposes the hypocrisy to some degree.
No as a coach I would not take a commit from a recruit if they were going to take other visits. I would tell them the offer is open but if they take other visits we will not take a commit at this time. If they were to commit it would be with the understanding that visits are over. I would encourage them to take them though.
As a 247 Staff member I would ask them why did they commit in the first place? Nobody makes them say I am committed. I would hold them to the fire a little. I get some people change their minds but some change their minds several times over and over. Those are the ones I am most pissed about.
I would also encourage them to not commit to anybody until after they have taken all the visits they plan on taking.
To have said recruit then tell the FSU coaches that someone from 247 was giving them lip about their recruitment?
That's an AWESOME way to keep your media credentials.
sweet I have my first hater. Who cares. I just wish I knew who it was. I do not believe I have ever down voted anyone for their opinion.
An early signing period would solve most of the problems. however, it may put Josh. Chris and Tom out of a job.
If no one cared then the process would be far more orderly. So we are to blame for this circus. That, and truckloads of ole miss money...
I do not have teenagers myself. But I have a daughter who is every bit drama queen and a son. I have coached for more than 20 years. From High School to kindergarten. Kids are kids. Most days kids are not taught the value of their word or their commitment. It is all about "me" the me generation. I have coached a Mr. Football and taught him the meaning of being humble. I have always been known as a fair coach. I can be intense but I never ever forget they are kids and need to be molded and taught. Trust me if my kid(s) ever is recruited (and they very well could be as they are good at many sports) they will not pull this crap. They will take visits being gracious and thankful. WE will sit down and look at academics and the opportunities a degree brings. That will be my kids focus. And honestly if I raise them right with the right guidance I do not expect them to fight me over it.
The OP shows no understanding of the nature of recruiting. It is what it is. Deal with it.

I fully understand. I just do not like it. As for deal with it I guess I have to. Still do not like it.
Just curious how early would an early signing period be?
A lot of these don't have a strong parental influence.
In fact, for some the influence in their lives are negative.
I'm glad your kids have that in their lives but many don't.
I've been following recruiting since the early interweb and its gotten crazier over time.
The more social media the crazier it's gonna get.
I guess don't sweat it too much.
evened you out
