With lengthier schedules 10 wins isn't the same as it was 10 years ago. We get an extra win every year by having an extra cream puff on the schedule. Then there's the acc champ game allowing for another extra w.
Also we lost to uf this year in Doak. Last years team might have beaten a terrible uf team but they also lost to clemson, wake frickin forest, ok (at home), and virginia (also at home).
It's easy to pick out the good and make Jimbo's tenure look like he's the 2nd coming of BB. But the bad is just as telling imo. I'm not sold on Jimbo personally (and yes I understand that my opinion doesn't matter a bit in the grand scheme). If we're able to repeat this year's performance next, I'll change my tune.
Having said that I loved the win last night. Loved watching Lonnie tear it up, EJ make some great plays, and especially loved the defense making the niu qb eat his words.
I think it would be more accurate if instead she said we saw EJ's ceiling this year.
Winning by 3 touchdowns is good, not great. Winning 65-10 is unrealistic. I do agree it was frustrating to watch us move the ball with ease at times and then sputter.
Also have to look at Hopkins missed FG and O'Leary's fumble. Those 2 plays took away potential 6-10 points too.
Exactly, her and her little buddy Adelson were saying how niu was going to surprise a lot of people and the score would be close and all her other bs just to get fan reaction and increase her pr, i hate that bitch
Okay, average wins per year aside, how does a 76% winning percentage sound? Jimbo has his flaws, but lets not act like this program is in bad shape. He has us trending upwards and exactly where we we wanted to be- winning conference titles and BCS games. His future is locked to him learning from his mistakes. I'm willing to bet he does.
76% sounds like a C.
Seriously though it's decent. We've had some good wins and some terrible losses. Just would like to see more consistency. Next year will be very telling. Can Jimbo keep us as a top ten team with lowered expectations and a plethora of easy excuses available should we fall short?

Happy New Year bro..
Another season come and gone, now we can focus on recruiting and get prepped for NSD. Should be another bang bang finish the likes of which we haven't seen around these parts for a few years.
I'm tired of seeing the title for this thread. I get my hopes up every time thinking Heather signed on to be the cover girl for SI Swimsuite Edition.
What man in his right mind would not take a peek?
Lets be clear, we don't get THIS Offense back next year. With the exception of losing Pryor, I think we will be just fine. In some ways, I think our new personnel grouping will be better. OL will be best it's been in a long time. RB's will be seasoned and WR's shouldn't see much dropoff. Excited to see QBs battle...the talent there is exceptional. If anything, the Defense is the biggest question mark. Predicting wins/losses at this point before the season is a stretch. Every team is different.
All that said, I choose to look at the same glass you see as half full. It's been a long time since we have had an ACC title and a BCS win. I'll start worrying about next season in a month or so. Who knows? Maybe we'll have a full glass that no one can argue about next year...
I posted this in the other thread, but thought it could apply here too:
It's just interesting to me that all the national types basically wrote the exact same thing.
It's like they were given a writes upon request prompt or something (remember those, Florida kids?)
The disappointing thing is that there were a ton of positive stories to write about last night:
- Lonnie Pryor has a tremendous story, has overcome a lot to get where he is. But on a night when he averages 35 yards a carry, he's barely a footnote in the national storyline.
- EJ Manuel played this whole season while dealing with his mother's battle with breast cancer, something he's kept secret all year. And on a night where he had a pretty nice game, quarterbacked FSU to its first BCS win since the 99 season and became the second QB to ever win four bowls, he's barely a footnote in the national storyline.
- A defense that has lost it's top DE, top DB, then another excellent DE and then later lost its coordinator shut down one of the nation's top statistical quarterbacks. And, oh yeah, the DE coach who has already taken another job came back for one last game with his guys and did a great job. But after the national media hyped up Jordan Lynch for a month, the defense that made him look average at best got barely an ounce of credit.
It's just disappointing, I guess. It doesn't mean that everything said about FSU today is inaccurate, but there are a lot more stories to tell and it seems that no one at the national level cared enough to tell them.

This pretty much sums it up for me!
They all wrote basically the same thing. It was almost like a herd mentality, like someone said somethings during the game and the rest just followed...
Lonnie is such a good kid and really deserved his night. I could not stop thinking of Leon Washington having a similar night in a bowl game a few years back. Great story but nothing on him except a swipe by Thamel about a lady getting up in the pc to praise him?
Vince had a great game, maybe his best as a Nole. Did you read anything on him? And the list goes on from there...
Very few cared about Jordan running his mouth but all cared about a small section of FSU fans possibly chanting 'overrated'?
I can't say I disagree with all they said but man why the hate? Why no credit to the kids at the very least?
Like I said, it bothers me ALOT!!!
65-10 is a bit much. however, Winning 52-10 was very realistic. If we jumped on them early they quit.
So yall think they (national media) slam UF like they did us?
Nah, cause UF won more recently then us on the big stage, they beat us, play in the SEC will be part of the excuses I bet.
Bottom line though: they finished with the exact record as us, we won our major bowl, we beat the team we were supposed to in said bowl
And they beat us convincingly at home. They beat 4 very good teams. we beat one.
The media's mantra is FSU is sloppy in its offensive execution in the red zone. And they are correct. As a result we have underachieved and they are correct.
They have doubts Fisher is anything more than a fast talking Ron Zook. A lot of us have those doubts.
So will the slam UF as much? No, because the media did not have problem with the ville being in the BCS and because the media thinks UF overachieved this year.
They did. Their wr's suck. Their Qb sucks. They have a good first 11 on defense but questionable depth especially in the secondary. An avg ol which is why they need extra ol's to run the ball.
If we were a one loss team and had beaten the hell out of the ACC the criticism would be muted. Our offense looked like it always does away form Tally. NIU is so bad the offense got out of its own way in the 4th quarter.
The national media is frustrated with FSU's underachievement this year.
To be clear, I don't disagree with you per se
It's not about if they have a point, they do.
It's about the timing and absolute lack of credit given to kids who just achieved something good this year. The disdain with which they proceeded to bash FSU. That is not right...
There was nothing positive they could find to write about when there were lots of positives? That is the issue.
What I found hilarious was that it wasn't even 2 weeks ago she had an article about how FSU fans should take notice of Jimbo's gains before he hits the road for greener pastures.
She's a hypocrite that follows the wind. Reading this article clarified why she is a no talent football writer that works exclusively on a blog no one follows.
