For me I'll go positives then concerns:
-- I feel like we are pretty fresh, considering. We have a deep team and we had 12 days before VT, 9 days before MD and was able to sub heavily against the Terps. I dont believe UF is as deep or has been able to situationally preserve as much of themselves as us. Their DL has basically rotated just 7 guys all year.
-- Florida has a weak pass rush and we have a good pass protecting OL. Lerentee McCray is everything for them in this game. If he doesn't get a sack and a half EJ may cement an excellent legacy despite all his naysayers like myself.
-- Florida, like I've told Gators ad nauseum, has as little edge talent on offense as most of us young guys have ever seen from them. It's just bad. Their passing game is basically using their WRs as decoys so Reed can get open. Basketball term but FSU might should just go box and 1 on defense this Saturday. Karlos/Joyner on reed all day. Never leave him.
-- Brissett is totally unprepared and if Driskell isn't 100% he's not a D1 level QB. Take away just 10% of his mobility and I wouldn't start him at FIU RIGHT NOW. He may be a monster ala Tebow as a Sr but this upcoming Saturday he's not a D1 QB if he isnt fully mobile.
--- Muschamp vs EJ pre-snap. Whether he's able and has just lost confidence or whatever, EJ is a toddler pre-snap these days. Unreal bad. And after the snap if he immediately realizes he missed something like a blitzer he has been panicking and taking sacks, just handing them out like candy to defenders.
-- Muschamp vs Jimbo at Halftime. Muschamp is a stud at halftime, just is. UF often goes from solid to unreal between the first and second halves. Jimbo isn't so acclaimed. The 3rd quarter i believe is our worst statistical quarter and it's often sad looking.
-- Ball security: Elam/Bostic/Jenkins and Co love making plays. Sometimes more then playing fundamentally but they can strip you and take off like bandits. We've fumbled entirely too much this year. Add even just one int to 2-3 fumbles and we'll lose. JMO
-- Cason Beattie.
Can't wait to watch this game. Will be as anxious as I've ever been for a game maybe. It's such a swing game it is remarkable. Even compared to how it always is you could type an extra 500 words on how crucial this match up is. I have FSU winning in a slightly sloppy, 5 turnover affair when down the stretch Brissett simply does something terrible like last year.
UF's offense is going to be going nowhere or backwards all night. It feels like we have been forcing ourselves to not look ahead to this game for a LONG time and now we can finally let loose on the Gators. I think the up-tempo offense will help and wear down the UF defense. Our incredibly inexperienced OL has almost a full season under their belt working together and coming off their best game according to Canolee. Two weeks away from Doak. Tear them apart!

The punting game is something that concerns me. We've had two blocked and we know they can block them (ULL). Hope they address this a good amount this week.
Cason Beatty is my key to this game. His punts will have a huge impact on this game. Hopefully he isn't punting often, but when he does he has to be able to flip the field and not make it any easier on that lackluster gator offense.
Key to this game: 2 early scores.
If we can score twice early and start chipping away at their ability to run the ball, this will be a blowout. If it stays close, they will wear us down with the run and keep it close enough to win.
I'm glad you guys have mentioned Beatty, because I think he is key. Our punting has just been bad this year, and we cannot afford to give those guys short fields, or worse - blocks. We've been blessed with Powell and Gano recently, and I hope Beatty gets us back near that level sometime soon.
Keys to this game...
- Let the OLine win you the game. This team plays unreal at home, let them take control.
- Take care of the ball. Goes without saying, but UF is crap on offense, just don't give them any free points on botched punts, INT's or fumbles. BTW, of EJ's 5 INT's, 3 of them were dropped passes by WR's/TE's that should have been caught.
- Defensively, stop the run, and bottle up Burton when they run what I like to call the "wild-turd" formation.
I try to respect all the teams we play, but if we play our B-game on defense, I don't see how UF comes away with more than 20 points. If they score more than 20, a lot of dumb mistakes by Special Teams and Offense will be involved.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
Trey Burton at QB is like Tebow his Fr year at Florida. Remember when, if Tebow came in, it was QB plow off the LG. EVERY DANG time. Burton couldn't hit a receiver past 15 yards if his family's life was on the line. If he comes in then one of our two safeties should blitz like a mad man and just drop three off in coverage.
Great points on our Punter and Ball Security (Uf's fumble luck) - the first two I thought of
I've missed Muschamp's great 2h adjustments these past few games (ULL, Missouri, Jax State, Georgia, etc) - what were they?
It's going to be an ugly game. I think we'd win fairly handily if we had our special teams of last year. The only thing that concerns me in this game are our punt teams. We have a much better offense than they do, but that advantage will somewhat be negated by their defense.
If Brissett plays FSU wins by a lot, if Driskel plays FSU wins by a little OR UF pulls something spectacular and edges one out. Brissett makes terrible decisions when he is under pressure and I'm guessing who ever is QB Saturday they are going to be under a lot of pressure. Also throw in the fact our WRs suck balls and it doesn't look good. I feel the only way to have at least a chance is for Driskel to use his feet and when he does he makes stuff happen. I know you guys think Drisel is part retarded but he is decent and at least he doesn't make terrible decisions all the time. Jacoby still has more INTs then TDs in his career and just doesn't look good to me. Anyways good luck next week, I'm not here to start crap or shit talk.
I'd like to see an offensive explosion from us, but I don't think it happens. Pressure has bothered EJ and I have a feeling uf brings it in heavy doses the entire day. Fisher has got to be patient and not force things, giving them easy points. Punting is gonna be big for us. If we make them go 80+ most of the day, we win.
Interesting take secrocks, I think its the opposite in terms of who gives you a better shot but I defer to an actual UF fan for that knowledge. A 85% mobile Driskell is barely a D1 roster QB imo. If he can't explode out of the pocket and draw defenders then you might as well not even bring him over to Tally. JMO
Hey man, I couldn't agree with you more
Fair post. If. Fsu shuts down your running game and not turn the ballover they should win. You have the edge in special teams though and that will help you guys.
Talking about defense. Not as an entire team.
Driskels only bad game this year was UGA and the reason he turned in over the 3 times he did was all because of pressure (1 INT was a stupid throw across his body) Brissett would be a great QB for UF if he had any protection at all and some weapons to work with in the passing game. Unfortunately the OL has looked terrible and the only weapon has been Reed although Hines has been doing work recently. I think Driskel is fine to be honest. Even after he got hurt initially he walked off the field by himself and was walking on the sideline yesterday without anything on his foot. IMO Brissett tried to do too much which leads to bad decisions, I like Driskel because he has made good decisions for the most part and can run like hell. Plus Driskel throws in the read option that Brissett can't run. I don't know I just don't feel UF has the play makers offensively to produce, the defense is gonna ball though.
get uo on UF early and make them throw. We crush them. Keep it close, allow UF to run the ball and its 50/50
FSU may win, but they don't have a good enough o-line to "crush" UF.
UF will have the best defense in Tally, imo. If If UF protects the ball on offense, anything can happen in the 4th qtr.
Strong words. FSU has twice if not thrice the pass rush of UF is main difference I see. UF's LBs are better IYAM
I don't see them wearing down our defense unless our offense and special teams keep putting them in bad spots. I guess that IS possible though considering I give UF the edge on ST and their D is better than our O IMO. We'll see. Could be a tight game or it could be a blowout for the good guys depending on our offense.
You're smoking crack, dude. This OL is above average and will be able to handle UF's front seven. That VT game helped them learn how to deal with 99% blitzing which will help them against UF. Our OT's had never played division one snap before this season and our guards had one start each. Stork bounced all over the line in his tenure here. They now have 11 games playing together (Watson missed one, I think).
Who do you have as a pass rusher?

What I'm interested to see is the turnover battle. FSU has won big in that area the last two years. If we keep it that way I think this game gets ugly for you guys.
The only position on defense they have the edge at is Nick Moody's spot.
The 104th offense in the country is going to wear down a top two defense in the country at home? lol please tell me you're joking
I'd give FSU the advantage in pass rush. But, UF puts adequate pressure on the qb.
UF's offense is one of the worst in the country. That defense has won just about every ball gm.
