Lets discuss what the 3-4 depth chart would look like for the NOLES considering the recent hires... Will be interesting to see where we go
We don't have the horses at LB. at all. I think Bama acerages about 245-250 at the LB position.
We could move Casher back to play a pass rushing OLB role, but we just don't havethe horses yet.
Shanks and Goldman would be solid at Nose, and Edwards/Jernigan would be solid on the outside, but I don't see us going to a 3-4 next year.
We may show some 3-4 looks, and be more multiple, but we would have to see a heavy focus in the 2014/2015 cycles on larger LB's.
Exciting times, though. With how our staff has been hard at the 2014 cycle already, I'm pumped with adding two AWESOME, TIRELESS recruiters.
I'm calling a top 3 class for 2014.
Yeah we would need more LB to fit the scheme.
I think we'll see some of it this year. I'm not sure we have the quality depth at DE to stay in 4-3 consistently. We're going to have to be creative at times to get pressure on the QB.
I just hope our blitzes are designed better. Even though we rarely blitzed, we didn't do a good job of disguising them and never got to the quarterback.
We would have to move Los and Cash to LB to even sniff the personnel. If I were a stud DE or DT, I wouldn't even consider playing in a 3-4 D. Your job is basically to take a beating and fill up space so the LBs get all the stats. You get double teamed on every single down.
Here is the thing about the 3-4. If we ran it, uf would get the majority of stud DEs and DTs that come out of Florida. Sorry, that's just the way things would shake out most of the time.
Uf runs a 3-4
3-4 base. They do a ton of 4 men fronts, too.
UF is very multiple, as I expect FSU will be under Pruitt
Exactly, we will have a D style more similar to uf than Bama...though Bama does run some mulitple.... FSU though will probably run a 4-3 base for now with mulitple sets..... We will see stuff like FSU showing 4-3 and Casher backing up to the OLB and Jernigan shifting out to DE....and vice versa.... The new coaching staff wil both have to recruit to what they want to run and also evaluate what they have now, possibly shifting positions, body weights, etc...
