FSU baseball announces pitcher Mike Compton is out indefinitely with a right elbow sprain. He'll be reevaluated in two weeks.

Pretty big blow.
Do sprains usually come with "out indefinitely?" Seems kind of extreme for a sprain.
Just a guess, but this will probably turn out to be a major issue.
That would be very unfortunate. Is this typically something that lingers?
I'm much more comfortable knowing that Mike Bell is coaching our pitchers. Hopefully he develops one of the 4 freshman or 3 JUCOs to fill the role if Miller/Weaver/Holtmann don't step up.

Hopefully he does not need Tommy John surgery
It's a elbow sprain and the season is still 3 weeks away. We don't even need him until march. Relax.
I tend to agree.
As the other posters said, they wouldn't have said he's out indefinitely if it was just a simple sprain. Have to wonder if his funky motion puts a little extra strain on the elbow.
"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
I hope you're right, but the wording of the message leads me to believe he won't be ready by March.
Spoke to Luke Weaver about possibly filling that role. Will have more later.
I am a bit concerned we didn't hear any of the new guys named as potentially Sunday guys.
Seems like Sitz will slide to Saturday where he has to finally show some consistency and either Miller or Weaver will go on Sunday and well, they need to show some consistency.
I see people refer to the pitching staff as a strength, but outside of Compton, Liebrandt and Gage Smith FSU does not return anyone who was able to hold down any role they were put in last year.
The good news is the guys who could be relied on last year (the three named above and Robert Benincasa) were names that at this point last year we wouldn't have expected to hold down the roles they did.
