I don't remember anyone wanting to fire Coley or Stoops. I'm not sure anyone really knows what coley does besides recruit like a maniac and drink cuban coffee. Fans don't know enough about what he does to want him fired and what they do know he does excellently.
Dawsey was never a serious fireable candidate it's just the wr's weren't playing very well for a stretch early in his tenure. He got it taken care of.
Odell was missing on a bunch of guys and our dline was a wreck. We found out later much of that was b/c unc and miami were paying guys lots of money. Really glad the fans didn't fire him too.
Fisher has only been mentioned for firing very recently but by only one or two people on this message board. Most of the people who are looking for a bit more from our team just want him to fire himself as oc so he can continue to be our hc. I think he's waiting to use the fire himself as oc card in case we struggle next year and he needs to use it to appease his bosses and/or boosters.
It would be a real tragedy if the boosters stood idle and allowed that to happen this off-season. It shouldn't even be plausible....and if it happens, mark my words, we will get exactly what we deserve for sitting on our hands.
We will end up as a case study in textbooks as a lumbering organization that can't act fast enough to respond to market conditions.

It's the style of defense that brings recruits not the flashy guys. If Hudson stays he's all the flash you'll need, ODell is anything but. But getting a defense that breaks heads brings the guys in that break heads. Besides, Ellis didn't seem to have a problem bring in talent at USCe..
He's already hearing from boosters.
Ellis Johnson would be a great hire. Whoever said earlier that while a younger guy would increase Jimbo's coaching tree, if we want a guy we can have more continuity with running a system for over 5 years, it'll increase our chances of winning a title. Will take more than next year for sure, but we expected Stoops to leave anyway. And we have quite a few leaving on the D side anyway. So yes, I do like the Johnson hire on that front. I think it's important to run a great system for an extended period of time.
I do understand the concerns with Johnson. Easy as hell to recruit against this coach because the stat of a completely defeated season looks bad. I think we can offset this through our vacant positions...DE and DB, right? Or would Johnson handle one of them personally like Stoops did? In addition, if rumors about Hudson leaving are true, then we have an opening there. Hire a Craig-like recruiter at one of those spots. Doesn't necessarily need that much Xs and Os with Johnson's established system.
If you want continuity, Johnson is not your man.
