That miami game was hardly dominating. Dominating a team would be beating them for 4 quarters which we did not.
VT, Miami, GT, NC State and UF were the biggest games of the year so that is why I "cherry picked" those games. In each one EJ and the offense were the reasons the games were close/FSU lost.
After 5 years in the same system under the same coach, his last 2 performances are puzzling. That uf game, IMO, was the worst of his career. His first int was the definition of something you never do.
Ej is 23 not 14. He is the national spotlight whether he likes it or not. You take to good with the bad.
Those guys want us to be good. Kirk is frustrated-not as much as us but frustrated. He sees an underachieving team in FSU and he is right.
Also, we took 3 hours of his life last night that he won't get back.
Kirk is actually an analyst who wants FSU to do well. However, he's got the sack to say something is wrong when it shows itself to be so. Again, and I've laid this out before, it's not so much WHAT you say, as it is HOW you say it. We have quite a few members who have picked EJ apart in even stronger language and terms. Yet when a respected - nationally recognized expert says the same, some of you want to take him to task. Poor choice of syntax yes, but mirrors existing sentiment here.
Honestly, what was wrong with what Kirk said? We have some posters who sat through a few too many sensitivity training classes. And even worse, they appear to have taken them seriously. Why is that Kirk's fault?
He made a very fair assessment of how EJ has played the last few games.
I missed what Kirk said but, from what I've read on here, I don't have a problem with what he said. You call a spade a spade. EJ's play, as a 5th yr senior, has been disappointing and falls squarely on his shoulders. Making bad decisions, missing wide open receivers, turning the ball over are unacceptable. Seems like he's regressed as the year went on. Early on his INTs were just bad luck. Tipped passes by WRs. Outside of the outstanding one handed INT by the GT defender last night, he's throwing picks right to these defenders with no pressure.
He knew what he was getting himself into when he chose to play at FSU. Have to have thick skin when playing at any major university. Spotlight will be on you and it's up to you to make sure it's in a positive light. Cut the "he's a kid" mess out too. He's probably about 22 years old. He's not a kid.
So in 6 months when he is an NFL draft pick, is it okay to criticize him then?
Not guilty y'all got to feel me
I thought it was funny, would have been funnier if it wasn't so accurate.
What he actually said was EJ would find ways to make it interesting, almost as an aside, not a direct attack. He hates this match up for us as much as we do, and thinks a lot of stronger teams got hosed. Said they want to see the Oklahomas and not the "Chunkies" - as I'm calling them. I say let each of our QB's play a quarter, and see who's got the chops for next year. Don't burn Winston's shirt, let Green or somebody who played QB in HS call the signals in the last frame. That will generate some excitement I guarantee! Put Los in there and have him run every down, or heave it as far as he can!
FYI Kirk's career stats at tOSU
FSU Football. Making cool the new swag since 2013.
If anything, I think that shows that Kirk wants the Noles to be back. He's probably getting sick of us making him look like a clown. Hopefully Jameis can fix that and regain his faith in us since he has the most potential of being our next possible Heisman candidate IMO.
Ziiinnnggg! It hurts what he said but it's true.
I think the way it was presented was more of what he would say to his buddies at the bar, and not on live television. The information is accurate, but the delivery was poor.
There is a difference between saying someone sucks, and then explaining your supporting evidence of why they suck.
And just saying someone sucks, in passing.
As another poster pointed out, the way it was said was more appropriate for talking to buddies at the bar. Not national TV.
Gosh we have some sensitive fans.
Herbie is speaking the truth and EJ is an adult, not a kid.
EJ made several fine throws in the second half against Ga. Tech. Everytime it looked as if FSU was going to mount a drive, a penalty, fumble or sack would occur. Maybe EJ should have gotten rid of the ball on one. On the fumble, he did not have much time. On the interception, anytime you get Benjamin one on one, I think it is a good decision to throw to him. Benjamin did not make the play, but he will make many more than he won't before he leaves FSU. I like the idea of letting the ol take over in the 4th qt and letting Pryor lead Wilder. I may be in the minority, but I believe they are capable of controlling the game. I am not saying the playcalling was bad, more bad breaks than playcalling this time.
I have no problem with what he said. All was fair and true. 5th year senior playing like a 1st year guy at times this year. I love EJ and what he has done but he has played well below expectations. Also, EJ is a grown man, not a high school kid.
Nowhere near as dumb as Kirk picking either of those QB's for the Heisman. Anyone who watched either QB prior to their final seasons knew they were what they were, and they weren't Heisman QB's.
Don't think I am defending EJ here. I'm not. He's our Tony Romo. But Herbstreit trying to take this position now, after being stupid enough to pick EJ to win the Heisman before the season, is just laughable.
Kirk had it rough at times, poor widdew dude got sorted out by the Wolbereenes.
A rare Herbie clip - this is where he was knocked out of the game against Michigan in 1991. UM was flagged for roughing the passer so OSU got the ball back.
EJ has been bad and will keep them in the game. So.....
What happened to you?
Did you get bit by the same spider that created spider man?
Look at you all defending the program and its players, and shit......dang.
Next time we're at the same game remind me to buy you a beer.
