Chris and Josh I hope you chime in....but Michael Carvell from the AJC and I had a discussion on twitter about the 2011 class and he says he had De'Anthony Thomas ranked ahead of Clowney and that no player should be a unanimous #1 recruit. I am sorry but in any other year I may agree with that but wasn't Clowney about as sure of a thing as a recruit could be? I have never been blown away watching a high school football player like that, maybe it's just me or I just don't think Carvell has a clue all while saying he is surely entitled to his opinion.
But IMO since 2000 as a recruit, Clowney is top 5, while I think DAT might be top 30 or 40 and that could be reaching. I'd have to really think it out in his case but not Clowney. This has nothing to do with current affairs but when they were recruits

Why should there never be a unanimous #1? I'm confused.
Unanimous according to 247 analysts or unanimous throughout the entire industry?

Please, Clowney could be the #1 of any class in the past 10 years.
Unanimous throughout the industry. I know that's alot of lists but I just can't see anybody in the '11 class that you rank ahead of Clowney
Lebron James was 1 and there is no argument against it, fact
FSU -->----->> The Unconquered Uprising
I don't understand how he thinks the industry works. It's not like we all (Rivals, ESPN, 247, Scout) sit down and have a big rankings summit. If 247 thinks Clowney is #1, we'll rank him number one. If the other services do as well, it's not like someone is going to raise their hand and say, "ok, we'll rank De'Anthony Thomas number one since you guys all have Clowney".
I just don't get it.
Clowney has more than proven his worth as the #1 player from the 2011 class.
Can anyone think of another player in the country that people would suggest he sit out this season because it could affect '14 #1 draft status??
The real question hear is if Adrian Peterson and Jadaveon Clowney were in the same class, who would be ranked #1?
Clowney would be #1. A slightly better prospect at a more premium position

He annoyed me on Twitter, I stopped following him.
As important as Clowney is......how many more wins does SC have because of Clowney....Oregon was basically one win away from playing for another title. I would take Clowney #1.....but does FSU win anymore games this year with Clowney....I would have taken the kid from Oregon and you may have won the game against NC State....With Clowney in that game you probably are still in the same boat.
You never know. Who's to say Clowney wouldn't have made a big time play like he did against Tennessee or Michigan to get us the ball back. Just like we don't know if DAT would've broke one loose to give us one more td
I would take Peterson. I think he was an amazing talent coming out of HS, even compared to Clowney. Both are incredible though.
I would take Peterson too fwiw in college and clowney in the pros, clowney makes more since for 10+ yrs in nfl but for 3-4, I'd take AP everytime
I would have to go with Peterson. Peterson is literally the only player I've ever seen that could make the jump from highschool to the NFL and actually be able to contribute. Clowney would have got destroyed as an 18 year old in the NFL.
Clowney would have been the #1 draft pick as a sophomore.
This is the way I see it. AP pretty much carried Minnesota to the playoffs, as good as clowney is, I don't think he could carry the vikings to the playoffs.
