Sure, but depth at a position dominated by one person isn't really a concern to me. It's unfortunate, but it's a position we don't use.
When has one TE ever torn anything up at FSU, let alone 2?
Depth at any position hurts... for any sport.. regardless of use, cause you need guys for that just in case.. Went from 3 to 1 in a matter of months...
I must be crazy but I think Benjamin would be a great TE. He would be a nightmare matchup for Defenses.
Which is why I said this hurts.. being such a violent sport injuries are just one play away... I understand the use or lack thereof for the TE at FSU but losing a quality guy like Christo hurts depth wise..

Pass Catching TE.. blocking not so much
I think we'll be okay. Kerr will have to grow up quickly, but I really like the idea of using Jonathan Wallace at TE in run situations and 2 TE sets. He played TE in high school and he's a big kid (6'7" 290 lbs) and was a 3 sport athlete in high school. He's impressed the coaches enough to earn a scholarship this offseason.
Seems like a perfect fit.
You can play the what if game at any position. At this point, it is what it is. A loss of a player that saw a couple percentage points of plays last year. If O'Leary is injured, then it becomes a big loss.
There's rumored that he has a significant injury, and if true, he wasn't playing anyways.
Coaches like him. He was a guy who couldn't add the weight to play OL, but was a good blocker, but didn't have the feet to run routes. He's a good blocking option.
I think I'd go w/ all 3 options being discussed...
1. Use Wallace in jumbo packages on the goal line
2. Put Benjamin or Haulstead in the slot at times to crack down on LBs or DEs
3. Cross train at LB and teach him a few basic plays.
With 5 of top 6 receivers returning, I bet we spread it out a majority of the time anyways. I think we would be better in short yardage with a 6 lineman that a TE.
Any reason given as to why he's transferring??
Why transfer now, he's spent one year on campus. He would contribute a lot this year. He is basically wasting a yr of eligibility, got some bad advice for sure
i think it definitely hurts more this year than next. this year we are down to Nick and Kerr. in '14 we have Nick Sr., Haplea RSr., Kerr So., and two freshman most likely.
adjustments have to be made obviously. 6-7 ol sets, 4+ wr sets, and Abram may see more time now than initially planned.
"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
In sports as a coach I have learned you have to play the what if game so you don't get blindsided..
This transfer seems very strange, dad still seems to be a big fan of FSU. This transfer makes zero sense, homesick fine but you can't wait until Jan? Then won't lose a year of eligibility
Loss of Coley who was his position coach last year and his primary recruiter could have played a role in it
Why wait until now Coley left in Jan
