Auburn is paying their offensive coordinator $350k. So first off they can't double his salary (Craig is making $210k). Most they can pay him without insulting his new boss would be around $300k. FSU can offer $275k and be fine. He would be foolish to not at least sit down and listen as you never know what can happen in the future (plus, it is his alma mater). So everyone, chill out for a bit. We'll all be happy as hell in a couple of weeks with all of the exciting new hires coming our way. It will be refreshing....
Auburn could offer 400k but it would set a bad precedent with paying a recruiter more than the oc
That said, it will really come down to whether he wants to go back to auburn. Anything more than 275k it us Overpaying. He is an elite recruiter but we don't need a qb coach with how hands on jimbo is.
If we lose him we will at least have a whole new staff get together all at once and we can have a good class this year and ensure that 2014 goes back to being as great as jimbos classes when he first took over
Damn good point
i think in an isolated situation you are completely right but this offseason Craig is worth more because he gives us continuity plus his recruiting prowess is even more important with only 5 staff members right now.
Aren't they paying Ellis Johnson something like 900,000?

$800k. But that's their Defensive Coordinator. Craig would be a recievers coach. I don't think it would be in Malzahn's best interest to pay the recievers coach $400k and his Offensive coordinator $350k.
In a normal circumstance I would agree but auburn is run by their boosters.
The reason auburn can't get a top tier coach is because the coach has to agree to limited power.
The boosters run the show there and if they want Craig they will force him to turn down big money, force us to overpay, or he will go to auburn.
I am not saying it will happen, and it certainly isn't the best way to build your team, but that's how auburn rolls
The OC will not be calling plays.
Malzahn will run the offense.
He was QB coach in name only here. They will find a place for him. If it means a raise for their OC, they can afford it. Our boosters supplemented stoops' salary off the books and AU has more jack than we do.
Only way that flies is if they give Coach Craig the Assistant Head Coach title/Wide Recievers coach. Although he's a great recruiter/QB coach, his experience does not match the title. I can almost guarantee you this doesn't happen..
They just hired their OC. You think they will go back and give him a raise as well so they can hire Coach Craig? I know it's Auburn, but their not that dumb..
Very good point Haitian but you never know what those idiots will do
Might be a reason why the oc is making so little. Auburn has had budget issues and now they're paying off Chizick 2 million a year too.
Their OC will be like our Coley. Auburn could pay Craig more by giving him an admin. title.
They haven't banned you yet kid?
I think Craig is gone, but do we really haft tolerate this mole?
Not only are they paying Chizik off, but I'm sure they have to pay for their DC, OC they just fired after their first year + Trooper and they boys.... Money is a little tighter on the plains...
You rock at life!!!!!!
very good point.
We quite literally cant lose Craig at this point. If we have to pay Craig 325 to stay on one more year we need to do it.
Trooper taylor made around 500k
WDE Guys! Not here to flame just like as much info as possible. Rhett Lashlee was a GA just 3 short years ago and is a glorified QB coach. It's Gus's offense Rhett is there due to his knowledge of the system dating back to his playing days in Arkansas. He has the ability to run the O practice the way Gus could while Gus is overseeing Special teams practice etc etc. In short he is Gus's right hand man. In short paying DC 300-350K isnt going to be seen as an insult to Lashlee
Not sure why you're posting on our board when no one can post on your board..
Most of that was to cover "expenses."
Yea it would... that would be like you being a shop lead but yet they bring in a new guy who works for you making more than you... unless you are cool with that
If Craig was legitimately not interested in the job on the Auburn staff why would he even interview? I'm sure Jimbo has talked to him by now. If Craig knew the money wouldn't be that much better at Auburn but still interviews then there has to be bigger issues at play.
I don't think he'll make more then Rhett but around the same dollar amount unless he is named Special teams & RB or WR coach. There are ways around it
