Josh, so you think Coley's staying. In what capacity? Clearly, he won't be calling plays. That being the case, WHY do you think he stays? If a dozen OC jobs open up between now and January I would imagine he bolts (if, in fact, he's offerd one of those jobs).
The Future is Now.
He stays because he has a good job as the offensive coordinator for Florida State University. If he gets offered a better job, I'm sure he leaves, but why leave for a lesser job?
He's as much of a OC for FSU as I am a super model..
Exactly! (No offense, you MAY be a super model, but Coley ain't no OC for FSU, at least not at this point.)

I said he's not going to Kentucky.

I don't believe that. I believe he has a big hand in the game plan each week, etc. Being an offensive coordinator means you coordinate the offense, not necessarily call the plays.
I doubt he will get a 5th year if we struggle next year. If we struggle that means we lose to Clemson so no ACC championship and no BCS game. I don't see how you could keep Jimbo if we go say 9-3 next year and say we are improving.
Josh, with all due respect, you said, "right now it looks like he's staying." I took that as meaning he's staying at FSU in some capacity.
That doesn't mean he'll be here next year. Just that he's not going to Kentucky. It depends if he's offered a better job than the one he has. I know there's rumor that if Cristobal moves on from FIU, Coley could be a candidate there.

I said that.
I said that because there are no other offers coming his way "right now". I don't know if he'll have offers or not in the coming weeks. If I said "James Coley will coach at FSU in 2013" I'd be lying. I don't know that for sure and I don't know that he'll be gone. I know he's not going to Kentucky and he currently does not have any other offers.
I read it as though there might be talks in the works that would suggest that Coley is (perhaps) no longer leaving. I've been out of the loop the past few days. I misunderstood.

Coley would be a fool to go to USF to be OC. I believe he will increase his responsibility this year, might even start calling plays at FSU. With that offensive line coming back, great backs, receivers, te, this could be a very good offense with even average QB play. And I bet we get better than average QB play.
Being the OC means that you make the game play and script the plays for that exact game plan. If you make the game plan but someone else calls the plays that might muck up everything meaning we'd get shut out in second half's of games and would struggle to make first downs on short yardage situations..
It could. Or it could have nothing to do with it.
It's a fairly normal situation these days. An OC who doesn't call plays. It doesn't mean you aren't doing the job for real, and it doesn't stop you from future promotions. Look at Joe Philbin. He was the OC for Green Bay, didn't call plays, but still got the head job for the Dolphins.
Looks like I was a day early on that one...
I can't imagine that a raise in the neighborhood of $150,000 would entice a move to FIU.
Never know though.
Can he turn down moving home and being head coach? It's awfully enticing for a young coach.
