This man makes 1.3 million as an OC/QB Coach? There DC makes $800,000 where is Clemson getting this money from?
If you add up all the coaches salaries, I think FSU and Clemson would be about the same.
Much to my surprise Morris is worth every penny of what they pay him.
Venerables not sure he is really worth the money yet.
Bottom line because of the deficiencies of their head coach, they need to spend more for coordinators.
Still like our staff better than theirs.
At least Dabo is smart enough to realize he's a glorified recruiter posing as a head coach and has given up his salary to get a top notch staff.
Wish Jimbo would do the same so we could get a guy similar to Morris in here as OC...
Fisher can stand on his own two feet without his staff, Dabo cannot. Different situations.
FSU could compensate a quality OC without Fisher needing to take a hit financially, but that's up to Fisher. Besides that, I don't think FSU would approach that sort of money for a coordinator, it's a waste of money and unnecessary. Schools like Auburn and Tennessee are reporting budget issues because of this kind of frivolous spending, while FSU is planning massive renovating the TLCCC, Doak, building dorms, Practice facilities etc. They're much more responsible with money.
Dabo's salary is the answer. I think he makes like $300K or $400K more than Morris.
The thing is, Dabo has no serious coaching skills on his own. Like X's and O's coaching. He was a WR coach and was made the interim head coach...then the team got hot and won its bowl, as well. They sort of "had to" give him the job, as he is a relatively affable guy, too, and then he had success, too. When he first got the job as interim coach, nobody thought he would be the long-term coach.
I don't think he's actually a great football mind (for instance, he would never be an NFL coach), but he works as a college coach, because he has an engaging/affable personality. He seems like a good guy who players (and recruits) like. In any case, he has to be surrounded by top coordinators and position coaches to make up for his lack of actual coaching ability. He's more of the overseer/overall coach type coach, rather than a hands-on coach, like Jimbo.
Anyway, whether it's his personality, or his basic leprechaun effect for Clemson, he's stuck around.

I agree, I hold Jimbo in much higher regard than Dabo. And I doubt Jimbo would ever sacrifice that amount of money to give up to an OC, because he knows he can be the OC himself.
I mean the reason why they pay Morris that much is b/c Dabo is nothing without Morris. Morris is the highest paid assistant in CFB...Cam Cameron makes $1.13 mil. and Kirby Smart is a hair under $1 mil.
Jimbo can call plays, but honestly it's just too much work for one guy to administer the team and micromanage each game offensively. I would like him to give up calling plays at some point in the near future, but it also doesn't mean we will need to pay someone nearly as much as Morris. Jimbo can still offer a lot of offensive instruction.
Agreed, Jimbo won't give up playcalling.. wish he would, its not his strength, especially with everything else on his plate. Very very few HCs (if any) are capable of doing both at a high level.
