What happened to this guy getting a HC gig?
Better options I guess. I don't see him leaving Clemson and the 1.1 million unless it's for a premier job. Heck, being the head coach at some mid majors barely pay that much.
I don't think he's worth what he's making.
I don't think any coordinator is worth that much. He's the 67th highest paid coach in the country. That includes the 120 HC in division 1.

How can you think that? Clemson's offense is among the best in the entire country.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
Chad Morris IS Clemson right now. He's worth every penny.
I don't think he does much, at all, with the talent he has. The way he used Sammy Watkins was criminal. How do you put one of the top 3 receivers in the Country in the backfield as much as he did? How does a guy as explosive as Watkins only average 12.4 per catch? Heck, their TE averaged more yards per reception. Watkins only scored 4 offensive TD's.
Jimbo knew what to do when he had a receiver like this. Dwayne Bowe averaged 15.3, 17.3, and 15.2 yards per reception his sophomore through Senior year, and caught more TD's each season than the one before.
He is currently overestimating his value in the market place. He is one of 20 oc's that run the spread and put up playstation numbers but cannot get it done against real defenses.
There are another 8-10 that can get it done against real defenses.
He should have tried to get a cincy or colorado job. When he finally goes it will be for a job with a lower profile than either one.
Lastly, there are MANY schools that are not interested in a spread guy running the program. Wisky is the current opening that is an example.
Our top 5 receivers averaged more yards per catch than Watkins. A great offensive coordinator doesn't take a top 5 pick and make him a glorified decoy.
The core of that Offense will be back this year for their final run at it. Why would morris leave?
I would still take him as our OC any day.
Ya know, if you think about it our problem is that we don't have the money to put an elite OC in position to help us get to and win a NC. Until we do, I see us as the best ACC team. Which really isn't saying much.
He best get what he can after 2013...
Losing his three best players will kill his offense and coaching stock
Aside from the notable info that Sammy was sick and/or hurt a fair amount, a few reasons:
- losing Bellamy lost their east west staple player. Their misdirection suffered heavily without a speedy guy like Bellamy to stretch the field horizontally, and chad had to compensate by shuffling personnel
- Sammy simply got bracketed a lot. DCs game planned to take him out of games.
- the type of plays Sammy is featured in. Seemed like Sammy was involved in a lot more screens and fly sweeps (aka "touch passes") whose YPC by design aren't going to rival 20+ yard routes
Morris is an excellent coordinator, but they simply don't have the OL talent to consistently beat good defenses. You can thank Dabo for handcuffing Morris with poor OL scholarship allocation.
That's untrue. If we can pay an ol coach 450,000 and a rb coach 350,000, we can afford a quality oc. We have more money than Clemson according to usatoday; top 25 nationally in generated revenue.
Our problem is that we don't have a hc who wants to hire a quality oc.
Apparently he did interview a few times, in fact Dabo went out of his way to say that the Clemson offense was HIS offense and not Morris's, I guess he expected him to go as well. From what I read he doesn't interview well, I guess he has a bit of an ego. That said, lets see how his spread works against another real defense like LSU, it didn't against USCe..
Is Boyd there next year? Or is this his last year
Wait until the Pruitt numbers come out. Yall will be suprised.
Is James Coley not a quality OC?
In which way? I Hope its not more than the 600,000 that Stoops made.
From my understanding, morris is the HC for all intents and purposes. Dabo basically sits there during walk throughs and morris runs the show. He is 100% worth the money, otherwise clemson would be terrible. Look at that defense. Clemson had to score 50-60 points at least twice this year to win. Morris is clemson and when he is gone expect dabo to run them into the ground
So how much does yabo dabo make if Morris is making a million
As much as Jimbo drives people crazy due to his reluctance to let someone else call plays, I'm glad that when we lose top assistant coaches our program still has the head coach's identity and he goes out and brings in someone that can continue operating at the high level the previous coach had (obviously I'm optimistic about Pruitt).
I've thought for awhile now that when Morris leaves Clemson has nothing to fall back to. They'll throw a lot of money at the next popular OC no matter what type of offense he runs. They should look at Auburn and not make the same mistake. Identify Dabo as the problem and get ride of him to keep Morris around.
2 million. he took a pay cut to get him.
Still like I said, Morris and our defense = NC
First off this guy makes more than a lot of HC's without the pressure they are under. Secondly he has a family and my understanding he has promised them he will do everything he can not to move until his daughter graduates in 2013.
He did interview for a couple of HC jobs and one day will be one. Saw his teams play at Lake Travis in Austin, TX and basically it was what you see on the field at Clemson against high school players. Didn't lose a game for 2 years and I think he won 3 state titles.
He comes out of the Art Briles coaching tree from Stephensville HS in Texas. Took over when Briles went to Houston and then went to Lake Travis, hired by Graham at Tulsa and then went to Clemson. Ego over the top but can make the scoreboard spin.
Dabo won't last 2 years when this guy is gone. Clown of a coach who has paid assistant coaches a ton to cover up for his inabilities. Would make a good head cheerleader though.
