Why not hire him as OC and OL coach? He'd take the job in a heartbeat. Keep Coley at TE.
I took classes with Mike at FSU in 98 and 99.
Scalp 'Em Seminoles!!!
I like it. Passes the 5-minute google eyeball test (i'll leave the real vetting to someone who gets paid)
Im with you. You make the call and I'll buy the plane ticket
1. ol coach Grimes at Auburn. He can get enough high quality kids to come play for him.
2. Dana Bible NC St, as oc-wont happen, but

Yes please. Would be a block-buster hire, imo.
As long as he is able to adapt to the players we have, it would be fine. The OL coming out of Stanford are top notch, there's no doubt he can coach them. Jimbo would still be the HC here, so he will have to mesh with the same style. Fisher is not ground and pound. He uses a lot of different formations, looking to spread the defense and use our speed and their overpursuit as the advantage.
"A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt. "
LOL sorry haven't seen him in like 13 years. All I can tell you is that he's put on a few pounds since then, judging by the press photos... But haven't we all.
Really good guy, but honestly I only remember him at 22 years old before all of his coaching experience.
been beating the shit out of this drum since about week 4
should do whatever it takes to get him here
35 is pretty young but if he's coaching Stanford, aka what Wisconsin was for some time, then we want him here.
I really do believe its time for Trickett to bow out and why not bring this guy home. You know for a fact our current OL would LOVE the change. Another elite coach but one that's 15 years older not 50.
Is there any reason for this kind of debate? Serious question.
Any fan with half a brain realizes we have hit our peak. We will not improve as long as Fisher is calling plays and Trickett is coaching the offensive line. These are indisputable facts.
Are people hearing chatter of possible staff changes this off season?
We're all just hoping man. Sad thing is the arrogant stubbornness required for a guy like Jimbo to get where he is also is usually what means the downfall of them.
I know you're angry. Me too.
But at least people are offering up realistic solutions rather than "we suck let's hire Saban" or dumb sh!t like that.
This is a move that makes sense. I think Jimbo should try to respectfully coax Coach Trickett into stepping down. To get to where we want to be, we need to consistently beat UF (not to mention run the ball with consistency), and to do that we need to win in the trenches.
I am not calling out the solutions or names being thrown around.
I was just wondering if some people were hearing chatter that we may actually make some necessary changes this off season.
Man I am just hoping we make some changes. I am trying hard to continue to support Jimbo. Met him before, we are both from the same state, etc. I want him to succeed but am realizing his attitude and stubbornness may cause him to fail.
Guys, Trickett is not going anywhere. He is Jimbos best friend. Also, Jimbo is not giving up playcalling.
You don't know that. You may very well be right, but you don't know; none of us do.
With all due respect we have never consistently beat UF, not even at the height of the dynasty years. With their budget and recent success, it will be another few years of grudge matches, which is not a bad thing. I could be wrong, could be easily proven wrong, with stats that I'm too lazy to find, but is it ever realistic to expect or hope that we consistently beat UF (barring of course some bizarre situation in which they hire a HC who takes over their athletic dept to such an extent that it takes seven years to push him out, while in the meantime hiring his son and a gaggle of coaches based on the fact that they're "good family men," and therefore sliding us into mediocrity for a decade while we feed off their downfall?)?
1st part yes
2nd part lol no
3rd part yes
While I agree, didn't we go 12-4-1 against them in our dynasty run?
We should beat them when we field superior players and have home field advantage....
With all due respect, switch coaches and that game is even more lopsided. Fisher will make those moves this off-season, or it's going to get even uglier next year.
Jimbo wants to be a ground & pound guy
i hope this comes to fruition
Jimbo likes to run the ball, but he's never had a pounding style to his offense. He wants to stretch the defense out in the shotgun, let them overpursue, and let the RB find the hole. Rarely do we line up in the I and overpower anyone. We arent built that way and he has been recruiting here for about 5 years, if he wanted those players he would be recruiting them.
I disagree. I think he does want to be able to pound it up the middle, he's just working with what he has. Our line is huge, they just don't play to their size, and I think that's because of our blocking style.
11-4-1 from 87-2000. That's pretty consistent when you consider UF was also an elite program during this period.
I'm just saying, if he wants that, he has had ample time to recruit those kind of players at FSU, and yet he hasn't. From his recruiting, he wants guys who can get to the edge and turn it up, Wilder is really the only guy that doesn't fit that mold. His whole career has been putting the ball in guys hands that can turn any play into a big play, both at RB and WR, not wearing out a defense pounding away and pounding away.
