But wants the NCAA to allow them to do it with their current league as is. Makes sense to try to get the money grab between 10 teams before looking to add teams. NCAA says no and they look to add a couple teams. Article also says they want to strengthen OOC games especially in September. That can only be good for football. Maybe set up a conference challenge (like basketball) with a league before conference play....l hope.
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby says the league likely will seek permission from the NCAA to hold a championship game even though it doesn't have the 12 members required under the current rules.
Ncaa should say no. Wouldn't be fair to the rest of the conferences
Exactly. Everyone else has to get 12. There shouldn't be exceptions. It drives me nuts that schools like ND etc force exceptions because of money. I understand that money brings influence but in amateur athletics, it shouldn't.
Asking for a Championship Game with 10 teams is like asking the prettiest girl in the school out of a date. Worst answer you can get is no.

To me, its more like asking for a job you don't have the qualifications for but everyone does. You can ask, but seem like a @$$ when you try to use your rich parents as the push to get what you want. They can say no, but seems pretty arrogant to even ask. Then again, arrogance has allowed others to do what they want in college football.
I think they will go to 12 if they can find the right ones. They are waiting on FSU to declare themselves available. IMO.
"It's not the SEC conference vs. the ACC conference," "It's Florida State vs. Auburn." --Lamarcus Joyner
I just can't figure any way they stay at ten and the feeling seems mutual. I think our admins were simply privy that the announcement would be more winter 2013 or summer 2014 so they went hard core with the company line.
They will go to 12 and I doubt it's anyone other than FSU and one more.
I agree with you while it isnt a popular sentiment to many on the message boards I thnk the Big 12 still expands and I think we are in thier sights .
I think if the Big10 does hit the ACC which really to expand they have no choice, and trust me they are not staying at 14, then the Big12 / SEC will attack as well. The key thing here is that I thikn the Big 12 could get 4 teams which would alleviate the concern FSU has around more regional partners.
I could be 100% wrong but I think if the another team or two left the ACC and the big 12 offered - FSU + any 3 of the following - Clemson, GT, Miami and VT - we would say YES and be gone faster then candy at a fat girls house
