So for fun I started thinking about QB's that really never got that shot at FSU or we just did not get to come here. For whatever the reason.
Here is my small list and feel free to add other names.
What would have happened if these guys got major snaps for the Noles?
i think xavier lee could have been a beast if he didnt get screw in his 1st couple years cuz of weatherford and his pops begin on the staff... im just hoping the same doesnt happen 2 J-Dub i.e. the tricketts
You're thinking of Wyatt sextons dad.
I wonder how many qb in the 2000's (Rix,Lee etc) would have been good to great without the village idiot as oc.
What about Willie Gardner? Anyone ever see him play?
Hard question to answer. Hit or miss with 4 & 5 stars coming out of high school, especially at QB. Mcpherson could have been worse than Weatherford or better than Weinke and Ward.
But in accordance with the rules, out of all of the "never was" qbs, I would have been interested to see Mauer’s career..
Aaron Rodgers wanted to be a Nole...but FSU did not pursue him in earnest...
Mauer would be on the top of my list.
Mauer would have truly screwed FSU. He was so good he would have carried Jeffy to two more years as FSU's OC and kept bobby around at least one more as well.
Let's not forget the pride of the West Canaan Coyotes, Lance Harbor.
The only three guys that fit the category to me are Mauer, Walker, and Kendra.
McPherson didn't have the head.
If Richt didn't go to Georgia and remained our coordinator, Rix would have transferred or changed positions.
McPherson clearly didn't have it upstairs. He showed his character when things went south here, and if he had the ability, he would have caught on somewhere when it all blew over.
If Xavier Lee's dedication to being great matched how much he liked being Xavier Lee, I'd consider lumping him into the top category. Guy loved all that came with being a QB, but never had the drive to see how good he could become.
As crazy as that sounds I would have taken it. The 14 years at Top 5 or better may have gone to 16 or 17.
Xavier has no one to blame but himself. Xavier liked the nightlife more than the play book. That is why Drew was put in the position he was. At the end of the day I put blame on coaching Dickey and JB were a terrible combination for young QBs.

Anquan. Was in a battle with Rix for the position, but was moved back to WR after Robert Morgan got hurt. Guy has the heart of a lion and wouldn't have allowed FSU to lose as much as Rix did.
This. 'Quan may be one of the best athletes to come out of FSU.
How could we forget him taking over at QB in the Sugar Bowl after Fabian Walker got hurt?
You can't coach someone to have the Will and Desire to be great.
He had the physical tools... Need I finish the sentiment?
Kenny Powers: "A true champion will do whatever it takes to rise above. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies."
In fairness No one pursued Aaron Rodgers. That is why he went JC.
That's not true at all.

Right. I was just going to ignore that post, but really inaccurate.
I think people forget how good Fabian Walker was when he first got to campus, how many heads he was turning, before, of course, the Clearinghouse screwed him. When he made it back, his arm was screwed up. If Fabian Walker doesn't get screwed by the clearinghouse, we never hear the name Chris Rix.
"...just played physical football. That's Florida State football. That's the standard from now on! It never goes back!" - Jimbo Fisher
If Xavier lee had his head on straight he would have been a bad bad man.
