Looking forward to hearing people's opinions here. The reason I got thinking about this is because I think the 2013 DB unit has the chance to be pretty darn good. I mean the biggest and only question mark is one of if not the biggest athletic freak on the team...Mr. Los. Not only do I love the starters, but I really like some of the back ups...not sure who all that is yet, but we will see.
DE: 2012 or 1996
DB: 1992 or 1993
I think I agree with your picks. It's really silly to think what could have been if Jenks didn't get hurt. Although I think 1996 may take the title though. I mean Wadsworth, an All American and top NFL draft pick, had to be moved to DT to see the field..
So what was the best DL? It might be 96 also, but I also like 2012.
DL (2014) MEJ, Goldman, Jernigan. Casher.
Looks good to me.
96 DE's no question. Boulware and Wilson combined for 32 sacks in 12 games. Greg Spires had a nice season as well
I think the starting '96 DL was better, but the 2012 DL was deeper.
Apparently a starter on the 2012 DL doesn't care for my opinion (down vote in previous post).
Replying without reading:
DE - Bouleware/Wilson. No debate. If Jenkens plays healthy this year, maybe he Tank & Werner give them a run for their money.
DT - really tough call. I'll go out on a limb and say the Corey Sawyer, Jerry Johnson, Larry Smith years.
LB - if Brooks and Marvin Jones played side by side, I'd go there, but they really didn't. Instead I'm going to go with the 96/97 squad that had Sam Cowert, Tommy Polly, Brian Allen and maybe Lamont Green thrown in for good measure.
Secondary, 86/87 years. Deion Sanders alone probably makes the cut, but when you throw in Leroy Butler I think it's over Rock.
Now to go back and read all yours.

Any comic fans out there, check out Tart, written by a Seminole Grad, who is incidentally... me.
Good points. Just a couple things:
-Jones and Brooks did play together in '92.
-The '97 LB corps did have Sam Cowart and Lamont Green as starters, but Allen and Polley didn't get much playing time until 1998, when Cowart (the best LB of those 4) was gone.
-I think you mean Corey Simon, not Sawyer when discussing the DTs.
It's tough to keep track of who played when, especially when players' careers overlap a bit.
Absolutely meant Corey Simon. In fact I googled to be sure and then still typed the wrong name.
As for Brooks/Jones, I base that on my memory of Brooks taking Jones spot during the 92 comeback win against Georgia Tech(after Marvin tore up his ankle) and racking up like 18 tackles. But it could just be that Brooks moved over from his normal position to man Jones'.
If he was on the field with Marvin then it's 92 no question.
Didn't Daryl Bush tear it up at LB in 97? I think he was a Butkus awards finalist, or at least on the list.
Yeah, he was a senior in 1997. That was a very good group.
'96 DE and DL was best no question. 3 first round draft picks with I think a 3rd round thrown in. And that was just the starting 4.
