Lattimore is hurt and doubtful, Clowney's banged up, players have the flu, etc. UF wins this game, which is good for us for two reasons. 1) It knocks USCe out of the top 15 and we jump a spot; and 2) It gets UF one step closer to being undefeated when we play them. Our ONLY chance of even sniffing the crystal ball is if we dismantle and undefeated Gator team. While, it's impossible for me to root for them it's good for us if they win.
"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
IMO any notions of the MNC are out of the question, but I agree w/ everything else in your post. Besides UF WOULD have an excellent shot at the title and nothing would suit me better than us finally becoming the f-er in our relationship w/ them rather than the f-ee.
Who gives two shats about UF being "strong" when we play them? I wouldn't mind them being 0-11 every year when we faced off. I'd relish it, actually.
The sooner UF is knocked from national title contention the better.
It burns me that UF was a total dumpster fire 2 years ago, and in his second year Muschamp has them completely back to being elite, while in Jimbo's 3rd year were still talking about how this is a years-long process, he's still learning how to be a head coach, etc.
This is all contingent on UF actually being back to being elite, which we'll see.
Current BCS standings, if UF wins out and we beat them, we wouldn't even pass them on the BCS rankings. MNC is a pipe dream, there are 3 other SEC teams in front of us as well.
Our only saving grace this year is to win the ACC and play in the Orange bowl and with our luck NC state wins out......
UF has had some fairly lucky breaks this year. They got LSU at home on an off year for LSU, and are getting USC at home while USC is completely banged up coming off an emotional loss at LSU.
Then UGA is, well....UGA.
If we're UF's only loss, they're still going to the SECCG as East Division Champs. And if they beat Alabama in Atlanta, they're going to the BCS Championship game. I'd rather they lose to USCe and Georgia to get them out of the running.
That's a bad idea, the sooner UF crashes n burns the better.
If UF wins out up to our game then their image and recruiting and booster support ext ext goes through the roof.
We want them to lose now.
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or it may last a year. But eventually, it will subside. If i quit, however it will last forever.
There ranking is "elite" but the team is not. They have played vanilla offenses all year and the offense is almost unbearable to watch. Aren't they ranked in the 100s in offense?
I wanted UF to be undefeated for our matchup until we lost. Now strength of schedule does not matter and I want UF to be beat down as much as possible as many times as possible.
While a title appearance is highly improbable, it's not impossible. Lots of football left to play. There was only 1 team with less than 2 losses in 2007 and that 2 loss team won the title. If we win out and a similar situation arises, we're in. While our schedule was stronger, we did play in 3 title games with 1 loss. We just need to win voters over and that starts in 2 days.
I can't believe they don't have two losses already. Gotta give them credit, they beat who's on their schedule unlike us. That said, I'm not impressed, they are not beating FSU or winning anything of significance. This is a good year for them, however, when it looked to be a down one.
One last point, Spurrier might be fooling with the injury report.
Even if it would help us, I never want to see them win.
I hope the roosters gig'em.
Exactly! This is what scares the shiat out of me. To win the MNC you HAVE to have luck on your side. Whether it's scheduling, no injusries to your team, several injuries to your strongest opponents, teams ahead of you with fluke losses....etc. They have been lucky as hell and those are the teams that end up in the MNC. They could wind up in the MNC game and Bama's whole Dline gets the flu before the game. Anything can happen when you're lucky.
UGA is a home game too!!
Imagining an undefeated matchup between FSU and UF at the beginning of the season would have been sweet (especially with FSU rolling them at home), but now that FSU has been knocked out of the NC convo, I am just hoping UF loses at least 2.It can only help with recruiting.
Honestly, in the preseason, I expected them to be 5-1 at this point, the only game I had them losing so far is LSU, but that's before we knew how awful LSU's QB situation looks right now. I still think South Carolina is a lot better team than Florida. Lattimore will play. Spurrier is just playing up the injuries. Georgia is a shaky pick for me now, but I'm still going with them over Florida. I think the 3-4 that Georgia throws out is unique to a young QB. So right now, I have them as only 1 game better than what I had them preseason coming into Tallahassee. I thought 8-4 or 9-3 coming into the season, with Missouri being the wildcard, but with Franklin struggling this season, they are not the same team.
"A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt. "
No, the Georgia game is always played in Jacksonville. It's a 50-50 atmosphere.
On ESPN's GatorNation it says "home." So, it's in Jacksonville? Hm.
Yup, its in Jacksonville. There are quite a few people drinking cocktails in Jax that day, most of them outdoors.
No he doesn't. Is anyone impressed by their offense?
There only appears to be 2 elite teams this year: Oregon and Alabama. There are 10-15 "very good" teams, however, and they appear to be one of those for now. What's funny is early in the year many of their fans wanted to fire Muschamp and were complaining about how terrible they were.
They played a close game at home against Bowling Green. They played a close game on the road against A&M who was in game 2 with a new coach. Won against a terrible Tennessee (I don't care if they beat NC State, that's not how football works). Beat a god-awful UK at home. A BYE WEEK the week before a home game against an LSU team many had been calling one of the most overrated teams of the year. And then nearly losing to an unimpressive Vandy team on the road.
By no means is that an easy schedule but it's not some murderer's row, either. Would not be surprised at all to see them drop these next two games.
