# 3 in Collegiate Baseball
I think that is too high. We've really not been fully challenged at this point, and the only real good team we've faced, we've lost both games to.
Not to say I think this team isn't good, it has been a pleasant surprise, but to this point the schedule has been soft.
Virginia is the best conference team we have faced, and they are not the same team they have been the last few years...currently 6-6 in conference (18-10). FIU, who took a game from us in Tallahassee and started off the year ranked in the 40's, is sitting at 14-13 (4-5).
We'll know more after this weekend, but GT is a very schizophrenic team. Then a meh BC team, then Miami at home. Maryland is Maryland and Clemson is another team off their usual pace. NC State will be good though.
My point is that we've had a favorable draw given our circumstances. That's a good thing as we've been allowed to let the young starters settle in. But at the same time, who knows how good they really are?
We set up very well right now to surpass the 40 win mark. In fact, it may be comfortably passed.
Our sos is 40th and I believe we have played 20 or so games against top-100 rpi schools. There are several schools near us in the poles with similar sos, save for Stanford (12), Kentucky (155) and Tamu (72).
That SOS is the one created by Boyd Nation (and more logical than the RPI SOS), but the RPI SOS has FSU at #3.
I've had issues with FSU in the past (maybe 2009) when they played 10 games against teams with over a 200 RPI. They have gotten better and seemed to figure out scheduling a bit better by adding Stetson, UCF and FIU for the past two years.
I don't think FSU is the second best team in the country, but they haven't lost a weekend series and half of their four losses are to the team everyone thinks is the best in country. Hard to have them ranked behind any team besides Florida based on the on field results.

my thoughts as well
long way to go
That's a pretty big descrepency.
more with less
I truely think this team has a chance to make the CWS if they get favorable draws in the Regional and Super Regional.
Hopefully we start doing more with more now that our recruiting appears to be improving.
I agree FSU deserves its ranking but isn't REALLY the 2nd best team in the country. Out of curiousity, how good do you think this team is? Top 10 quality?
As do a lot of other teams.
