Boston College was pretty horrid, so I don't take much away from the game other than Florida State decided to beat their heads in. Any complaints from what you saw on the field tonight?

Only complaint is that this same team didn't play the same way last week.
"Sometimes when you bring the thunder, you get lost in the storm." -Kenny Powers
I did see a few obvious missed holds.
Thompson didn't get 100 yards lol
Would have liked to see some more run plays but sometimes, like today, passing is the best way to beat a team. Nit picky I know, but I'm very much pleased with his aggressive play style.. seems like he is listening to the fans and adjusting. Also displeased with the officiating. But has nothing to do with us
Nope. Fisher called a game that highlights our talent and didn't attempt to shorten the game like an underdog.
Kenny Powers: "A true champion will do whatever it takes to rise above. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies."
EJ could have had over 500-yards passing if he were more accurate.
Would have liked to see O'Leary targeted more than once.
Less predictability on the blitzes.
Other than that, loved the play calling (more aggressive)
Get Oleary the ball! Otherwise, no. Go Noles.
I could nitpick a few things but overall a solid effort top to bottom. Still pissed about last week.
Was hoping to see a 3rd DE stand out in pass rush situations
More down field throws.
didnt like the open center field on the blitzes(hard to cover the middle when you do that though)
not enough oleary
Ej's only real pick, didnt set his feet and floated it. of course his 400+ yards and 4 tds made up for that one
referees were terrible about not calling holds.
DEs arent getting sacks for some reason
FSU Ambassador to the masses
Minor things: ejs 2nd int was god awful. We got a little undisciplined on the line when we got up and they were running it fairly well. Acc officials(whats new), benjamin needs to finish his routes before turning and jumping, and why the hell dont we go after punts?
Too many good things to list but other than greenes int the wrs stood out a lot. I have manlove for reggie northrup and ronald darby.
When EJ sees a receiver behind the defense and breaking wide, wide open for the endzone, he always--and I mean, ALWAYS--overthrows. I don't know if he gets too excited, throws off his back foot, or whatever. But I've never seen him hit one that's truly wide open.
He can throw a nice deep ball, but not when the receiver is that open.
But no, not much to complain about. We did what we, or any other average-or-better team, should do at home. So this game was meaningless. It doesn't separate us from other upper-half ACC teams like NCSU, GT, Miami, Clemson, Duke, UNC. So far this year, nothing does.
the officiating.. If i can see the holds on my tv how the hell can't the official? And i wanted to score 80...
my thoughts also
K.B please stop back pedaling and then trying to jump up in the air to catch the fade
stop plant then jump thank you Kelvin...
Every QB could have 500 yards if they are more accurate. He got like 79% completions. Cannot wrap my mind around people bitching about the accuracy of the guy who is the most accurate QB the ACC has ever had. It's not even dink and dunk. He averages like 9 yards per attempt. Unbelievable.
He misses big throws, bro. Easy ones.
I've always defended EJ and pointed to his percentage to back up my assertions. But watch him on that first play from scrimmage. Rodney is six foot six. Just give him something catchable. But he just heaves it. Down the middle later to KB. Way overthrown but KB almost makes the circus grab. Several times today EJ has no one near him and is just flat out missing wide open receivers. It's frustrating.
I love the kid, have always defended him but the numbers are a little misleading.
I'm complaining I haven't gotten to see ANY games this year, be it in person or on TV. I ams sad.
After watching this game, I feel like I have a pretty good handle on exactly what is going on with our team... and why the results are so wildly inconsistent...
It's taking EJ too long to mentally adjust to the speed of the game.... he's not seeing things at full speed until well into the 2nd quarter... In addition, it also takes him several drives to come back full speed after half time. With EJ taking this much time to warm up to the speed of the game, we miss on a lot of opportunities...Luckily, our offensive line was dominant today.. and we had the luxury of having the time to throw the ball deep on pretty much every single play...which in turn, gave EJ the opportunity to warm up... and he started looking really good after he did...
With that said, here is the caveat from hell...
All it would take to completely break down what we seen today = a slight defensive line upgrade for Boston College. A slightly better D-line, ends up getting about twice as much pressure on EJ... creating a domino effect.... which would produce two (highly likely) results:
1) Jimbo starts calling shorter passes and more runs, because if you call a longer pass with a QB who is still warming up to the speed of the game (with a team with a good defensive line) the probability of completion is terrible... and the odds of a sack are high...
The change in Jimbo's playcalling causes the defense to stack more people in the box, knowing that 80% of our plays are going to be 5 yards and under.... and EJ is likely to miss when we go deep... since he is not warmed up...
We eventually get tired of them cheating up on us.... and counter it by running screens (again not throwing deep)..and 50% of the time, this leads to execution breakdowns, because a lot has to go right with the QB, HB, and our offensive line for a screen to work...
2) Because of Jimbo's shift in play calling (mentioned above), EJ either "warms up" very late in the game.... or not at all....
I have been very critical of Jimbo Fisher since the NC State game, but after this Boston College game... I had an epiphany.
Jimbo's play calling can be among the best in the nation.... His one true weakness is his friendship with Coach Trickett, because it hinders him from truly seeing how damning the breakdowns in Coach Trickett's offensive line are, when combined with his play calling style.
If today's offensive line showed up every week, I honestly do not think EJ would be the starting QB at our program...It takes EJ too long to warm up, he has terrible 10+ yard accuracy, and he is very slow with reads during his "warm up period"... With that said, we have coach Trickett's line... and EJ's mobility allows him to survive it far better than our other options (options who could warm up to game speed much quicker)
If today's offensive line showed up every week, Jimbo would have the #1 offense in the country and Clint Trickett would probably be the leader for the Heisman.
Call me crazy, but I sincerely do not see how an offensive coordinator is going to change anything next year... unless they are brilliant at designing plays designed to exploit offensive line meltdowns...(hint: doesn't exist) .... Fisher is eventually going to have to choose whether his friendship/loyalty is worth more than his career :-(
I know it sucks... because Trickett is considered one of the best zone blocking teachers in the nation... and we are putting up some of the best rushing statistics in our school's history.... But I am convinced Fisher's style of offense is live-or-die on pass blocking...and we would end up rushing for even more yards, with an OL coach who was a pass blocking specialist.

Christian Green 0 touches SMH
hard to get sacks when u get held every play
ALWAYS? Did you miss the Benjamin breakaway bomb that set one of our TDs up?
GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
As Panic said, I just kept asking where was the aggression from both players and coaches last week? I know BC sucks, but so does NC State, albeit not as much.
