Through his first 20 games at Miami, he is now 10-10.
Wins are against: Boston College, Bethune-Cookman (X2), Georgia Tech (X2), N.C. State, Ohio State, North Carolina, Duke, USF
What are people's general thoughts on him? I actually like him and feel like under better circumstances he could do a lot of good down there.

Considering the mess he inherited, I think he is a miracle worker.
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
Helluva job... I expect them to be bowl eligible (I don't believe they have been put on probation yet).
Good coach shite situation.
I think he's very average. It's what I thought when he got the job and it's the same now.
I thought he was an average coach when they hired him and an average coach now. Nothing special about him, not a great X's and O's guy, not a great recruiter, there is nothing about him that really stands out except that stupid tie.

"A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt. "
I'd be pretty happy if left for another job with a team we never play
A miracle worker? Lol. He went 6-6 last year with a team that had quite a bit of junior/senior NFL talent and is 4-4 in what is probably the worst the ACC has been in a long time. Sure, the guy has kept the wheels from completely falling off so far...but 4-4 at Miami is hardly miracle work.
Keep telling yourself that.
Uhhh. You are the delusional one if you think being 10-10 at Miami makes one a "miracle worker".
Keep believing the opposite. Hope is about all you have.
I'd love for him to sign another extension and stay at Miami for a long, long time. Guy is average at best.
Most objective Cane fans have already reached this conclusion.
However, there is still an odd segment of their fan base clinging to hope. Case in point, this thread on their 247 site. Check it for a good laugh.
Being resigned to complimenting a team on playing hard is sad.
Long walk off a short cliff.......that is all.
Guy is doing absolute work...canes fans wouldn't have anyone else leading this program...
I have no thoughts about him or UM but bad one. Sorry.
"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
Here's a great stat about Golden at Miami. He is 8-10 vs. D1 teams.
Sure, right now he is, but what about the future. I'm sure you can't see this team getting stronger, better, more physical, but we can. Guy knows his stuff.... he learned from legends. And by that I mean, probably some of the best that ever coached the game.
While disappointment is all you have... Big difference. Congrats on the win.
If I remember correctionly when he was at Temple he never beat a MAC with a record above 500... He's not all he's cracked up to be
He's the type of coach I expect Miami to have going forward. I don't think Miami ever returns to prominence on a regular basis as long as long as Donna Shalala is there.
Butch Davis was criticized for not winning a big game, till he knocked us off in 2000, then they shot right passed us for the next 3-4 yrs.
Golden barring severe sanctions, should have them straight within 2 yrs.
But I think it is fair to say that sanctions will come, severity to be determined. I think any momentum he builds (improving roster, depth, recruiting) will be halted by the NCAA. If kids are allowed to transfer w/o penalty, they will be right back in the situation they are today, in my opinion.
