Ultimatum's are a bitch.
Here is to hoping this giant, bad ass mother f'er comes to the "the light" with a chip on his shoulder... and loses all control when he sees those ugly ass green/orange colors, and plows through the Miami defensive line like they've taken his momma hostage.
He now understands the hate that fuels lifelong FSU fans. Come to FSU son and be worshipped like the god you are. DO NOT RIP THE EYES FROM THEIR SKULLS, BECAUSE WE WANT THEM TO SEE THE UNIMAGNABLE PAIN. TONIGHT WE DINE ON HURRICANES
Umm... we are friends right? Just making sure.
Have a great day Mr. FsuFanForever!
The poster formerly known as 31-7. Understood by few, known by many, loved by all.
wow. wherever he goes (assuming UM doesn't crawl back in), I now hope Kirkland becomes a first rounder just to put an exclamation mark on the stupidity of this move.
IMO the most plausible reason for withdrawing the offer for Kirkland is: Golden had intel that Kirkland was planning on going/favoring somewhere else.
And Golden didn't want to get Fowler'd.
This theory dovetails nicely with the rumor that Kirkland and MT are a package deal (read: they want to play together at the next level).

The big difference is that Fowler was COMMITTED to FSU. DK was not committed to UM. This situtaion in inexplicable.
"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
It's plausible they gave Kirk an ultimatum--you gotta commit now or else--and Kirk, though a UM lean, was still not ready.
They thought he'd commit.
But Golden backed himself into a corner. If you lose backbone now, it gets out and you can never issue another ultimatum. Texas-style recruiting. And it backfired.
Golden may have felt he'd boxed himself in and HAD to pull the schollie to show backbone.
It finally dawned on me. The reason is that Golden decided to self impose a scholarship reduction.
He wouldn't be getting Fowler'd because he never "publicly" committed to Miami. The situation are completely different, if Kirkland was committed to Miami and flirting with FSU and had his offer pulled then good for Al, no one would be up in arms about it.
I do agree however that Golden felt that Kirkland was leaning elsewhere despite what Ice Harris is saying. He told Miami that they were in his Top 3 but wanted to wait til signing day to speak with other coaches. Golden jumped the gun instead of letting it play out. In recruiting you have to take risk and at times you get burned.
Wow the reporter blasts the kid for no reason. Kirkland has handled his recruitment much better than many of these kids.
Didn't Golden do an in-home with Kirkland within the past 2-3 days? If there was a drop dead date you'd think he would have mentioned it to Kirkland and his mom eye-to-eye ... "don't forget, we need an answer by xxxxxxx because we only have so many ships and there's another kid waiting" type of comment.
I hope this turns out to be strictly Golden stupidity. Sounds like it's gone too far for Golden to come back and say "Ooooops, our bad."
Has anyone heard if Coach Coley has called Jimbo and said, "Ha, just kidding ... I'll be at work tomorrow morning."

Fair point, but since these 2 are local kids, and many think Miami led for them, there's a strong resemblance with the Fowler situation (although not identical as you point out).
Still the common thread in both situations is: when you don't get commitments from kids that you lead for on NSD, you look like a fool.
Coolest post I've ever read!
Kudos to you sir!
That was just an AWFUL article. Bashing a kid for wanting to wait and make the RIGHT decision is just stupid. And this is the hometown newspaper too, so this will most likely get back to him. If I were him, i'd be calling the fsu staff right now telling them I'm ready to whip Miami's ass the next 4 years. Come to fsu big fella' _
Exactly..As stated earlier, that was BRUTAL.
What hack wrote that article? Jeez. SMH
As I expected, this will be easily smoothed out. If Kirkland wanted to go to UM yesterday, and UM still wants him, that's where he'll go.
Josh - where is that MT and DK update, I don't wanna wait any longer
What in the hell did I just read? Read like an opinion piece. No facts just conjecture.
Now there's a reporter angling for more access to the head coach of the local college team.
Any comic fans out there, check out Tart, written by a Seminole Grad, who is incidentally... me.
That's good! He's outsmarting the NCAA and all the rest of us!
Wow! Sounds like a message board rant more than an article.
