Ole Miss looking like Gus Malzahn. Urban to OSU. UNC is claiming Chris Peterson is interested. Any other jobs available that I forgot to list?

  • I believe it's Malzahn to UNC.

  • FWIW Sports by Brooks and alot of people down here are saying Golden to Penn State. Not a matter of if, but when

  • ESPN is saying that Ole Miss has Malzahn at the top of their list. We all know how reliable they are though.

  • I think you can put Meyer and OSU together. He basically said that he is just waiting on them to offer.

  • Feldman said Meyer to OSU was pretty much a done deal and they plan on introducing him at their BBall game Nov 29th

  • I live about 2-2 1/2 hours from Ole Miss' campus. Feeling here is that it's down to Arkansas State HC Hugh Freeze, UL Lafayette HC Mark Hudspeth, and Auburn OC Gus Malzahn. I feel like it'll be Malzahn.

I thought they were offering the job to Fedora? What happened there?

  • Saw on Twitter Skip Holtz is interested and would likely leave USF for UNC.
Obviously Urban for OSU until i am proven otherwise.
I want to think Golden wouldn't leave Miami in one year, which makes me look at Greg Schiano for PSU.

There's been a boatload of rumors, the past week. It seems like a new "leader" emerges each day that passes. I think a lot of Ole Miss fans really cooled on Fedora when Southern Miss was beat by UAB. I still feel like Malzahn gets the job, especially with this report coming out that UNC is looking at Skip Holtz.

I don't think under normal circumstances Golden would leave after 1 year. The Miami situation with Shapiro may be enough cause though. Now that the NCAA is looking into the Penn St situation as far as institutional control, etc., who knows if he would leave one dumpster fire for another.

  • Fwiw, Golden's name has been thrown out there by people from Ole Miss but I think it's wishful thinking.

  • If I'm Gus Malzahn and I have the choice between Ole Miss and UNC, I'm going to UNC without a second thought. Ole Miss is a coaches graveyard. You just aren't going to be able to compete with Bama, LSU and Auburn in your division every year. The ACC Coastal would be a better place to start a coaching career

And if I'm Al Golden, I'm getting the hell out of Miami as fast as I can. Self-imposing bowl bans means they know it's going to be bad. Would I go to PSU? Maybe - it is his alma mater, so you have to throw logic out the window to some extent.

I still think the UCLA job might be the best one available this offseason. It's a better location with great recruiting nearby and untainted by scandal like OSU, PSU, UNC and um if Golden bolts like I expect. I think that program is a sleeping giant and the right coach should be able to turn it around quickly.

Totally agree on Ole Miss. Bama, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, all with coaches who appear content where they are. And A&M now enters the picture. Good luck with that. UNC would be a no brainer.

If I were Golden I'd steer clear of PSU...that situation is still too raw, and who knows what is going to be dug up now that the NCAA is basically going to audit them. I still think he looks to leave Miami, maybe just not this year as a suitable landing spot isn't there.

I think Neuheisel saved his job as UCLA may win their division now.

As an aside, I think Arizona hit a home run with RichRod. That's a great fit for both.

  • Just added Tulane, because I forgot that job was open. BTW, UNC rumblings about Skip Holtz, although I don't see that one happening.

I begg to differ. If Golden leaves then Mario Cristobal takes over. And he WILL bring the old U back. That is a scary combination.

The old U of 1995-1998? Sounds good.

Seriously, The old U is never coming back. Not now, not in 5 years, not in 20 years.

  • Here's a fun one-

Mod on the gators247 site is reporting a juicy rumor that Saban has put out feelers to leave Tuscaloosa. Says it is just a rumor, but that it should be noted Saban has not stayed at any program longer than 5 years, and this is his 5th year @ Bama.

Yesterday WSJ article on PSU puts them in a pretty damning light. Comments from those close to the university's investigation have said that all options are on the table including dismantling the football program. PSU will more likely than not stay with the current staff until they really know how big of a mess they have. If anyone hasn't read the story in the Journal, it's a must read.

That would be strange. Where would he go that is better than Bama? Retire?

The FIU coach with a 23-37 record? Doubtful.
