Canes fan here....

  • I'm sure you guys remember me from earlier in the season and we had some good chats. About halfway through and we're a little worse than I expected. I thought we would be 5-3 at this point and I think we should be with one good break in any of those games, but I think a coaching change has that affect at times. I thought you guys would make a serious run at the title (NC) and I'm sure you guys are disappointed as well, but so be it, on to the next game. I can't stand the Sooners (so glad they lost) and really wanted you guys to pull that one out and thought you had a serious shot in that game in the fourth. Crushed me that you guys lost to Clemson because I think Dabo is a toolbag. That guy just seems clueless to me and I don't mind my team losing to another, just not to somebody like him and he's gotten the Canes over the years much to my dismay.

Here's my question: What do you think the line will be next week against Miami? I got it at FSU -15 1/2. Any thoughts?

  • I don't think any logical fan on here had any National Championship aspirations for this team this season. Everyone in Tallahassee feel that 2012 will be the year that we make our run, and I share the same sentiment w/them.

Canes are about on par with what I expected. I'm not into insults, flaming, or talking s@#t (unless provoked). You did not do that, so I say this with absolute sincerity, and with respect for your program. Your team is not good - period. The talent on the roster, and the last three recruiting classes are not Miami standards. I forget what I predicted your record to be at the beginning of the season, but I'm 90% sure I said 6 losses or .500 winning-percentage.

Not sure what Golden is doing with this recruiting class, but those players are not going to put Miami back where you would like them to be. The 2011 class was atrocious too (ranked in the low 30's), and your 2010 class has been hammered with attrition. That's not good no matter how you paint it. Those 3-stars and 2-stars with offers from schools I didn't even know had football programs aren't going to turn into Ed Reed.

As for Florida State, we're getting into a groove now. We're a different team with a healthy EJ Manuel, and I'm still pissed at Jimbo Fisher for the Wake Forest game. He tried to be cute and thought he could get away with resting EJ against them since Trickett had a big game against Clemson in a losing effort. Turns out that Clemson's defense is just flat out putrid, so that game wasn't a testament of his skill after all. EJ was good to go against WF, gives us our best option of winning, and he underestimated his opponent. . . .The rest is history. I'll chalk it up to growing pains for a new coach, but it won't be acceptable a second time around.

  • I know that a team is what its record says it is, and Miami as a talented but flawed team (and so is FSU, albeit FSU might be slightly less flawed at the moment). That said, Coach Golden is doing a good coaching job down in Coral Gables and UM is improved over last year, regardless of records.

I have a hard time envisioning an FSU blowout - Jacory Harris has taken care of the ball, and this past weekend notwithstanding, we have not forced too many TOs this year. I'd put the line at FSU -8 1/2, knowing full well that the game could easily be a dog-fight until the final gun goes off.

I'll say this: If that line is 8 1/2, I will POUND FSU. I might lay two or three grand on them. That line HAS to be double digits just from last year's game alone. It's at Doak and we're losing to teams like Virginia right now. It wouldn't shock me if it was 17 1/2.

I seem to remember you saying that you hoped Eddie Goldman would get hurt if he signed with us. Was that you or one of the canes that comes around here?

I would never wish ill will on ANY kid. I don't care who the kid plays for or signs with. I could care less if EVERY SINGLE TOP RECRUIT IN THE COUNTRY went elsewhere, I would wish those kids the best.

Right now I'd guess the line would be FSU -7.5 or somewhere close to that. I could see it low as well.

  • I think if we take care of B.C. like we should this week the spread will probably open somewhere around -10.5.. Miami can beat us if we don't come to play, but can lose big if they don't..

Eddie Goldman hints at a favorite - ESPN

Eddie Goldman, who is No. 2 in the ESPNU 150, has tried to play his recruitment close to the vest. Thats growing harder to do for the five-

  • You guys understand that was complete sarcasm from another post, correct? I don't think you guys saw the earlier thread. I don't know where it is or where to find it, but I'm a sarcastic wiseass at times and would never wish a kid hurt. Seriously, I coached hoops for a long time and never was I one to want a kid injured. Find the other thread. Back to the topic:

What's the line? I think FSU by 15 and the hook.

Once again, my apologies if you think that I was being serious there....

I've always been a solid poster and knowledgeable at that. I've got a LOT of experience within sports itself, mostly on the inside. If someone calls me out, I'm going to come back at them sarcastically and with a little venom. I'm not here to argue with petty posts. I asked what the line would be is all...
