Camp Preview: Running Backs

Noles247 breaks down each position as two-a-days are just around the corner. Today, it's running backs.

  • Given the way the OL was split up/held out for injury during the spring session, it is tough to get any kind of a read on how the starting unit will perform in the fall in the running game. On paper it should be an above average OL, which would be a massive improvement over last season. I'm sure these kids understand that the difference between a three-loss season and a crystal football rests on their shoulders.

FSU Football. Making cool the new swag since 2013.

  • I think Freeman is basically fine. CT4 is my hero. He's had months to rehab. Wilder is a moose and Pender could handle 75 carries if he had to. Im nothing but pumped about RB

  • It's also nice to see the era of the FSU scatback end. We have NFL size backs now.

With the way recruiting is going this will be a position of strength for years.

    Yep, it wasn't 1's vs 2's.

I'm in the dark about Freeman's injury. It seemed somewhat minor, yet some were saying it was the same injury that CT4 sustained. CT4 broke his back! That is not minor. What's your read on Freeman's health? (And CT4's)

I'm pretty sure they both have a herniated disk.

Yeah I know that but I'm talking about the held out for injury part. Seems like we had participation from all the main OL's save for Krug and Faircloth

Yeah but they were split up on the garnet and gold squads. Even if all of our projected starters played in that game they most likely didn't play together.

  • CT4 had a fracture in a lower vertabrae I believe.

I believe before that injury at the before the beginning of last season CT4 had a different back problem, which I believe is what they are referring to.

    From preseason last year.
"Thompson went down this spring with a back injury that has kept him going through limited drills this preseason. It appeared the injury had mostly healed entering camp. So much so that he actually has come out for a couple of practice sessions the first week, and competed at a modified pace as he slowly got weaned into playing full-time at tailback again."

Prior to that he had a herniated disc......like Freeman has now. The comparison of injuries is to Thompson's previous injury before the fracture.

I hope you're right. It's strange that the coaching staff hasn't been more clear on Freeman's injury. Either way, a herniated disk is nothing to fool around with. I hope Lonnie Pryor is ready for action.
