PANAMA CITY BEACH — Bobby Bowden didn’t realize he was breaking news on Friday, but that’s just what the former Florida State football coach did while rubbing elbows with athletic boosters at Hombre Golf Club.
Word trickled out on Thursday that Bowden would be among seven members of the 2012 FSU Hall of Fame. An FSU news release touted Bowden’s return to Doak Campbell Stadium for the season opener against Murray State on Sept. 1. It was to be his first appearance on the field that bears his name since retiring after the 2009 season.

I wonder if he will ever make it back to a game. He has been to just about every other teams game, but the one he coached for.

Hes being inducted into the FSU HOF and being honored at halftime and he has something better to do? I am just going to stop there.

I have a outside hope that he has agreed to come back for a bigger game. If not he's hurting the fans since it's the fans that will pile in just to see him again.

He gets like 15k a pop for an appearance, so he coudl very well be booked up, not to mention, they should of checked with him first.

I don't really care one way or the other. Bobby fielded some great teams and I have some wonderful memories, but at the same he was generously paid and rewarded for his time at FSU. I think it was a nice gesture from FSU, but if he doesn't want to come or can't make it, that is his choice. FSU doesn't owe Bobby Bowden anything, but at the same time Bobby Bowden doesn't owe FSU.
