Big 12 Priority Teams In Order

  • Interesting read from a CBS reporter at the ACC meeting...Spetman pretty much sprinting away from reporters to avoid questions.

Tangibles, not hypotheticals, drive ACC when it comes to FSU rumors - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com News, Scores, Stats, Schedule and BCS Rankings

Will Florida State flee to the Big 12 conference? The perception is it will. Brett McMurphy, on site at the ACC's spring meetings, fails to get any answers out of FSU AD Randy Spetman or ACC commish John Swofford.

Spetman really can't say anything right now. I won't begrudge him that, though I'm not necessarily a big fan.

Love the end of the article. It's confirmed that we're going to the B12 by Mario with the hotel.

If we use 10 years as a gauge, those two schools total 2 conference championships, and zero BCS bowl wins.

FSU, for as popular as a lot of people want to think, is 20th in merchandise sales. Then there are the Television ratings, look at our last four Bowl games.

Wisconsin-quality opponent, and the game was on mid-week of christmas break at 5pm only game on,people are relaxing and will tune in.

WVU, quality opponent and of course Bobby Bowdens final game, pumps the ratings up.

USCjr, sec and New Years eve, where most people are at parties, and the television has to be tuned into something before Dick Clark (rip) and again only game on.

Notre Dame, do i need to even go any further?

Then there is the Miami game on Labor day night that everyone points to..lets really look at that..highest rated game in ESPN history, ok. However, imagine Joe and Bob grilling all day drinking beer, hanging at the pool, now the sun goes down, and its time to chill, no NFL to watch, but "hey look there is FSU and Miami, lets check it out,t hey were both great once."

I am NOT trying to stir it up, I am NOT saying I am a know it all, i am simply offering a counter argument, which of course you will all call weak, because you are frustrated with our football performance the last 10 years, and the scapecoat is the conference we are in.

I am also not so sure how much prestige this B12 has, if Louisville is in the mix.

Man, on this topic you are obsessed. This analysis, by the way, is inane. Or perhaps insane.

You realize each bowl you alluded to gives the same benefit in other years to the teams playing in it, correct? Other than Bowden's last hurrah, each instance would be completely comparable to that bowl's matchup the previous and following years. And our ratings are consistently better.

Agreed but I think him and Swofford dodging questions instead of giving the standard denials speaks volumes.

You know what all those schools have in common? None of them play in the ACC.

I just hope Miami can follow you to the Big 12. Please try to take us with you if you can only take 1. Sorry if my post offends anyone, that is not my intent.

It doesn't seem like a lot of your fans want to be in the Big 12. Call and email the school if you think Miami should at least be keeping its options open. I would love to keep the Miami game which may not happen if we move and you don't. That would hurt you guys much more than it would hurt us.

  • Here are my concerns about this. I live in Atlanta. Now I can get the football and basketball games on TV since Georgia is in the ACC footprint. What if FSU and Miami go to the Big 12? Will I still to see FSU at home on my big screen? Or will they carry the regional games for the SEC and new ACC or whoever has Georgia Tech or Clemson and I'll get screwed.
Stop and think about that. Sure I could watch them on ESPN3, but overall that is a pretty lame experience. I'm going to be stuck watching that when we play our two FCS schools this year (that can be a whole other rant, don't get me started).
This year the ACC basketball tourney was here in Atlanta. I seem to be one of the few fans on here that likes basketball. Doubt the big 12 will hold their tourney here...

Very true +1 - I'm trying to tell anyone that will listen, problem is are fans are not the brightest ( some not all ). I hope Jimbo and Golden get together with you board of trustees and our dumb *ss Prez, who thinks UM doesn't need football. Even tho she keeps spending our football money on everything but football.

On the Texas side, we have heard Miami has already told the Big12 now, as they are more concerned about academics and associating with the UNC/Duke/UVA's of the world....

This is all about the electronic footprint, therefore I beleive the networks will show the Big 12 regional games in the Southeast, and for that reason I believe GT will be added as well. Fox and ESPN all have mutiple channels.

It's hard to out recruit Duke and NC basketball, but you have to start somewhere. I could see the basketball tourney being in Atlanta, because the Big 12 wants to increase their recruitment process.

  • I dont have time to look up the article, but it has been reported that FSU being in a bowl produced a higher rating than the previous year same bowl for the last 4 or 5 years. That is a long time to attribute it to lucky match ups and side stories. Also the amount of money FSU makes in a year is a different argument than the value of it's brand in relation to TV viewership.

Also, a lot of people think SEC hops on Va Tech. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I know, thats why we need some educated people to talk to her. There is no reason why you would loss your academic standing by going to the Big12. Just Cause those schools have lower academics does not mean you will have lower academics. Am I wrong on this, please educate me?
