Big 12 Priority Teams In Order

  • 1. FSU
    2. Clemson
    3. VaTech
    4. Miami
    5. Louisville

    According to Greg Swaim

The top 4 would be perfect for FSU and for the conference rivalry-wise.
    FSU vs Clemson and Miami.
    West Virginia vs VaTech

  • I would be thrilled if those 4 went to the Big 12. Don't care much for L'ville.

    That is a dream scenario.

Tell me about it. A divisions with (FSU, Clemson, VaTech, West Virginia, and Miami) + 2 Big12 bottom dwellers would be IDEAL.

    Probably TCU and Iowa State.

TCU is in Ft. Worth is easy to fly to leaving the pain in the ASS Iowa State.

  • How many schools would vote yes for Miami after the Shapiro fiasco? I hope if we go they come too, but I doubt they get the vote with them facing sanctions soon.

    ZonaNole

  • Miami is a tough one...they don't travel worth a crap so bowls hate them but are a National Brand that still produce decent ratings. FSU vs UM even in down years has always produced some of the highest rated games of each season. That is worth something to have it every year on your conference TV package.

Miami's number one asset is location, location, location....Big 12 teams will able to play in front of one (if not the best) top recruiting area's in country. Not to mention always plenty of seats at the Orange Bowl to bring your own fans along.

    bwhnoles

  • Miami is sending signals that it wants to get out of the big-time football business and try to be the next Duke so I don't know if they're still a candidate.

I'm pretty sure Ga Tech is higher on the Big 12's list than Louisville.

    ct_wallace

  • Louisville is a far better option right now, period. Imagine if they got an infusion of money and exposure with what Charlie Strong has started there.

Teddy Bridgewater had a good Fr year, they'll be a tough out for anyone going forward.

And obviously you have Pitino running a great BBall program.

GaTech is not in play according to that guy's twitter. He says they are too snobby with academics for the Big12.

No offense, but Notre Dame is the Big 12's No. 1 and has been for almost years. D. Dodds has a great relationship with N.D.'s A.D.Swarbrick, and Texas actually lobbied for him to be the Big 12 Commissioner when the league started. The Big12 has tried to get Notre Dame to park all of its non-football sports in the Big 12, and then promise to play at least 2 Big 12 teams each year, with the hopes that when N.D. does have to find a conference, the Big 12 is the easiest place to go.

    FSU would clearly be #2.

Good I hate playing that option attack anyway.

    That's obvious, they're #1 in every conference's eyes. They're just not a realistic option.

They could be an option very soon. The 247 updates have said ND will follow closely the BCS vote and they may be forced to join a conference.

    Scharnell

  • I have serious doubts the BigXII goes to 14.

No conference should allow ND to park it's non football sports....make them choose to go all in or risk being left out at this point.

ND also needs a few NE opponents (huge alumni base in that part of the country) so I would not be surprised to see them want a Pitt or Syracuse added as well (which helps West Virg).

I still see Va Tech having problems exiting the ACC after all the strings UVA was forced to pull by state politicians to get them in.

At this point I think if ND caves in it will probably go with the B1G and ask them to pick up Syracuse, Maryland or Pitt (maybe all 3).

I would say the Big 12 takes FSU, Clemson, Ga Tech, and Miami if Va Tech is unable to commit (because of politics).

From what I have read from the Baylor Mods, the B1G is not an option. Assume it has to do with the Big10 Network but not really sure.

I do believe the Big12 would allow ND to park it's other sports, at least they would have as of a few weeks ago.

    Scharnell

  • Swofford pretty much bet everything on ND following Pitt and Syracuse who they like to play (along with BC)...unless ND changes it stance soon the ACC will not have much of a league left to attract ND.

    bwhnoles

  • VT is NOT going to leave the ACC, unless they are elaving with UVA, they are tied at the hip now, due to the backroom deal that brought VT to the ACC in the first place.

WV is already goign to the B12, so not sure why they are on that list.

    Leaves:

    FSU, Miami, Louisville and Clemson.

Clemson I have no idea about.

It seems to me, Louisville would be Plan B.

Miami, has a lot of issues to work through, and I cannot see any conference wanting to roll the dice there.

    That leaves FSU.

Now regardless of whether you think this is good or not, logic would that one school has already decided their fate, now the question is, does their potential arrival rest on the contigency of FSU going as well? Are they goign to go along with Plan B? Keep in mind whoever goes with that school 9and I am not naming names) is going to in all liklehood be in the same division.

My point here is, it seems any B12 expansion in the next 2-3 wks, is up to FSU, IF FSU is even considering it, at this point nobody seems to even know who is in charge of all this.

You make it sound like these other programs have a decision to make. They don't. If FSU goes to the BigXII then whatever school is the lucky 12th team will jump on it instantly. Clemson, Miami, VT, are all just good programs that do not hurt the conference, but they don't have what FSU has, they can't carry a conference (heck, FSU is showing that it couldn't carry the conference, at least not alone). The ACC is doomed without FSU. If FSU leaves, then any football school that is left is going to pray that the BigXII takes them too. Whether that means the BigXII takes 1 more or 3 more, I am not sure, but make no mistake, if FSU leaves, those other schools will leave ASAP.

As far as UL goes, they could go to the ACC when/if FSU leaves. It really depends on what the ACC is shooting for. UConn, Rutgers, UL, and UCF would probably be the top options.

No that is not at all what I am saying.

And again, I think a lot of people here are way overselling FSU. The ACC is not doomed if FSU leaves, wow, I don't know what to say anymore.

We're essentially doomed with FSU still in the ACC. So if FSU leaves I'd say they are officially screwed. If FSU and Clemson leave the tv deal would likely drop to 12-13 mill a year which would make it a weaker conference going forward than the Big East was the previous 10 years.
