Best/ Worst Football Gameday Atmosphere??

  • Aside from Doak, what would you consider the best gameday atmosphere? Whats the worst you've experienced? Why? No wrong answers here.

My best is Lincoln, Nebraska. The fans are loyal, courteous and really respect FSU. Their tunnel walk is electric and they'll invite you to tailgate even if you're not there for them.

Worst- OU all the way. Loud, rude and unpredictable.

    You?

  • The worst for me was when the University of Minnesota played at the metrodome off campus

Best: Clemson was a good time

  • In terms of experienced. Miami and BC were the worst. FIU too but their a Sunbelt team with a new program so its to be expected. Best is doak.

  • Outside of Doak, auburn was the best game day experience I've had. Haven't been able to travel to many road games so not sure what the worst will be. But I have a feeling it could be Miami this year.

  • Best for me would have to be Tennessee. My ex graduated from UT so we went to a good number of games at Neyland Stadium back in the 90s. The first one was UT/UGA and it was amazing how loud 100,000+ fans were.

  • Unless you like getting murdered, going to UM games at the old orange bowl was pathetic.

Ole Miss is a great time

  • Best (aside from Doak) is definitely Madison, WI. The place is insane.
Worst is UM by far. Stadium is awful, fans are worse.

Yea Miami is the worst by far...Terrible gameday atmosphere with less than half full stadium, not to mention they play 40 min from campus.. Their is just an awsome atmosphere at stadiums that are on campus an have great fans, an they dont have any of that.. Only thing they have is a nice city, man if you put UF in a beautiful city like Miami we would be rolling in top guys an same goes for yall..

  • Best was Jordan hare stadium. I have had fun where ever I went. It seems like if your neutral the home crowd shows you a lot of love where ever you go like they are recruiting you to be a fan of Thier school. And worst experience I have ever had was at the DOAK. Haven't had a bad experience anywhere else.

  • Best: VT for a night game. Probably the coolest atmosphere I've seen.

Worst: Miami. For all the reasons already listed.

  • I haven't been to enough venues to say "best or worst" but here's a few experiences.

Penn State was awesome even in the dead of winter. Great tailgate, State College is a fun party town, no shortage of girls, beautiful campus etc.

NC State: I've seen them versus UCF and UM so I was basically a neutral fan visiting friends in Raleigh. The UCF game was cool. Stadium really is nice. All the girls were decked out in slinky red dresses, just legions of them. Fans were rowdy idiots but tolerable. That time...

The next vs. Miami. Went with a few Cane buddies but I was pulling for the Wolfpack just to be a dick. Put it this way: By the third quarter I was pulling for the Canes. The fans were insufferable. They kept trying to start sh!t rather than even watch the game. Afterwards we're walking down the hill, met a group of older Cane fans who were actually pretty cool. They had preteen kids with them. Next thing, this car full of frat-holes drives slowly by screaming obscenities at all of us. At that point I'd had enough and followed the car to the stoplight on foot, begging the pricks to get out of the car. They didn't naturally. That was one of many issues with NCSU fans we had that weekend.

  • I dont have many to choose from, to rank

    Florida State

Michigan - haven't been since they the additions, supposedly it is louder in there now since the press box keeps the noise in, but it seemed quite considering it was 110,000 people or whatever the capacity was then

Michigan State - tailgating was fun, they love to party...but you almost got the impression more of them wanted to drink than to watch football. Their stadium is kind of crappy too. They need to put some sort of brick or something outside surrounding it, walking up its like looking at the back of bleachers. Im probably just spoiled by our stadium. A friend of mine who went to MSU when he came down to Tally once to visit us couldnt believe how nice our stadium looked, to this day he refers to it as the castle.

And way down in second to last place - Central Michigan. I applied to Central Michigan as a back up school in case I didnt get into FSU and a couple others I applied to. Went to a game the weekend I visited, left at half time. MAC football doesn't compare to BCS level football

And last place, by a long shot Eastern Michigan - like going to a high school game

  • Best- Alabama...just a sight to behold. Was actually just in Tuscaloosa this weekend too and their tradition is just really cool.
Worst- UPenn...my alma mater. Went to maybe two games my college career. Sad. My graduating class also had the dubious distinction of being the first class in the last couple of decades to not see the team go to the NCAA BBall Tourney (winning the conference for an autobid)...the Palestra is actually a great place to watch a bball game.
