can't get a feel which way he's leaning at all. he really emphasizes early PT and apparently our staff has convinced him that he'll get significant PT here early (behind Super Mario and CC) and be playing with elite guys who'll attract attention (he specifically said blow up jr year). However, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that he would be a shoo-in to start his second year at Vandy, if not his first. Looked a little more excited talking about FSU, but he also said that Franklin's his favorite head coach...

Think it's Vandy. Is he really only a 3 star?

They rated him an 88 and then he got like 16 BCS offers after that and they seem to not care.

Franklin will be coaching at UF or ND in a year or two and then what? Don't these kids know a tiny school like Vandy can't hold a coach like Franklin?

You could have something there. Hope not, but Franklin is the real deal. He's very articulate, intelligent, charismatic, has a good football head, and is a marketing dynamo. He's constantly out in the community every spare minute he has, drumming up interest and support for a team that year in and year out is in the bottom half of the SEC standings. He's no joke, and for sure will have opportunities well beyond even Tennessee.

Of course they're not anywhere near our calibration for football - yet, but should he stay there 3-4 more years, I think we could see them move to the upper half of the standings, beating some of the better teams in that league.

As I mentioned the other day. Vandy recently held their media day. Now they used to get maybe 5-10 people show up, mostly for the free eats which are always superb. We do a bit of advertising business with their athletic dept., so I sent a representative from our company to attend - show the flag and express our appreciation for their custom. Well, she counted over a hundred people, a lot of leading lights of the community - bankers, politicians, and big cheeses, along with a ton of press. Not only was each medium represented, several had multiple bodies there.

Great interview. He knows his stuff and he's bound to be successful wherever he goes. That last trip to Tally was "all business" as he said, and I think the coaches did what they had to do: convince him that he's going to see a ton of reps. No doubt if LOVES Franklin, but he's a smart kid. He's got to know that Franklin will be coaching elsewhere in a year or two.
