  • I'm confused... back in my day, when you made a commitment it WAS your final decision.

Can we lobby someone on the recruiting counsel to just change the term to "reasonably sure at this point in time" when a player puts a school tag next to their name?

The poster formerly known as 31-7. Understood by few, known by many, loved by all.

Newberry sucks? Says who. He was playing behind the best DEs in the country. Casher has only been on campus for one year and clearly Hollins is good because he has well over 15 D1 college offers including SEC schools. Know what you are talking about before posting.

Even though I didn't say it, what have you seen from Newberry in high school or college that leads you to believe he will be any good at DE? Casher didn't play his senior year in high school. Hollins? who knows

  • Forgot to add....Walker could easily turn into a DT

    Chief Mac9

  • Go play for a shitty Tennessee team then! He will have more than his shot at major PT at FSU but his recruitment is over for me I don't care what he does

  • Remember guys.
There are two ways to look at this.

Is he trying to draw attention to his commitment announcement? He clearly enjoys the spotlight and enjoys the recruiting process. It's his one opportunity at this and he's definitely taking full advantage of it.

    Or...

He is legitimately struggling to figure out where he wants to go to college and fears the strength in the Florida State depth chart.

One thing is certain, he remains a Florida State commitment and has yet to decommit.

  • I think a lot of these comments are unfair. Based on everything I've read, Davin seems like a great kid. While PT is an issue that may frustrate some of us, I think it's a legitimate for any athlete to consider during the process. Also, his two main recruiters at FSU (Craig and Eliot) are both gone now. I personally wish the kid a lot of good luck at wherever he ends up. I also very much like his upside as a prospect and think he'll ultimately be a better WDE than Tashawn Bower. Hope to see you as a 'Nole, Davin!!!! Good luck either way.

Newberry was bad, really bad at times. He always looked completely foolish whenever he was in the game. He looked like a true Freshman that needed a RS, but he already had that. Yes he was a RS FR, but to me he looked like someone that will never contribute at DE. I would move him to OL and move Dan Hicks back to DE immediately, especially if Hollin looks capable come summer.

So, I guess you want to get rid of guys like Ronald Darby, Colin Blake, Demarcus Walker, Jeremy Kerr, Kermit Whitfield, etc, etc. It's the nature of the business. We've benefited from it, too.

  • Nothing against the kid, no matter where he goes he will need a year in a S&C program(he doesn't look college ready), wont take him long to figure that out when he gets handled most of the time by college tackles. Interesting we didnt promise him anything except compete for playing time. I'd like him at FSU, but at this point Feb 6th cant get here fast enough.

All games are important, if you don't think so try losing one and see how people act.-B.Bowden

Since you know the inner working of recruiting let me ask you this. How many of these kids that claim to be torn really are torn and how many are just playing the game but the coaches know exactly what's going on? In short, if he's playing a game do the coaches know so that they're not looking around as well?
Next, lets assume the kid really is torn and he really doesn't know where he'll play. Do the coaches then NOT considered him a commit? What if we are only taking 1 more DE and another that we're high on wants to commit, do the coaches pull a "I don't know who I'll pick" recruit for one that's sure?
I'm seeing a lot of this with our guys, I'm sure it's with all teams. I just wonder how much of this is for attention and how much is real..

Where did I say get rid of anyone. All I was saying is most of these kids have zero clue what commitment means. I never said we didn't benefit from it. Some kids make recruiting into a circus and it gets old. H

  • I'd drop if we have someone else as good or better to take his spot. The kid doesn't want to compete and frankly isn't very bright as he thinks everybody is competing for one spot when we start 2 DE's and rotate so lots of guys play. He's feeding into the lies from other schools.

Lol Newberry sucks, Casher hasn't played in 2 years, Holin isn't highly rated. Kid needs to grow some balls

Way to throw current players under the bus. I'm SURE fans like you are a big appeal to recruits. Bravo.

Cut that out. He is right. MEJr has the one spot locked down.

Don't count your chickens yet, Eric. Tennessee hasn't exactly succeeded head to verses FSU in recruiting lately.

  • It is clear he enjoys the attention just based off his twitter. If he feels that another school gives him a better chance to get him where he wants to be then by all means go there, but good competition is only going to make you better in the long run.
