No bigger named coaches better recruiting and more wins which leads to championships. The acc is suppose to be the powerhouse in basketball. Ham will be a 1 hit wonder if things dont change soon.

I'd argue that after winning the Big East at Miami, Ham is past his first hit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Ham apologist. But we're less than 12 months removed from him winning the ACC tournament and going through Miami (now No. 2 with basically the same roster), Duke and Carolina to do it. That's nothing to sneeze at.

It is Kentucky..... you or I could coach there and still get talent.... cause it is Kentucky.... FSU has to fight for talent unlike Kentucky...

So they get the only 2-3 championship caliber recruits in the whole country each year and everybody else gets the scraps. You put coach Cal here and Ham at kentucky and see what happens.

Kentucky would still get talent.... you act like Kentucky became relevant since Cal has been there..... but yet they have been one of the most storied programs ever...

In what fantasy world do you think Coach Cal would coach here? Newsflash, he makes like 5 mill at UK and Ham makes between 750K and 1Mill. Wake up dude.

How do you propose Cal gets here?

Exactly, it is as if he thinks we are even recruiting grounds with UK or any of the other 25-30 storied or High level BBall schools right now. The reason we have the recruits we do have is due to Ham. Look at the Robinson years and tell me Ham isn't a high level recruiter!

Exactly. FSU fans are some of the most "what have you done for me lately" fans I've ever seen.

If you had told me back in 2002 that FSU would win an ACC ship within the next 10 years, and string together a run of 4 or 5 consecutive tourney appearances, I'd have driven you straight to the sanitaruim

Its called bringing in a big named coach which brings in the best recruits and leads to national championships not just one conference championship. I agree kentucky has history and coach Cal was just an example.

  • That deep three from Wood might be the final dagger. FSU trails by 16 now with five minutes to go.

For sure. But those cost money and FSU has shown time and again that it doesn't want to invest a significant amount of money into its basketball program.

I think everyone understands that, but the point they are trying to make is, it's not that easy for schools to bring in big name coaches. Especially at FSU, which is not a basketball school by any means. The resources aren't really there, to be honest.

I should rephrase that, the resources are simply not allocated to the basketball program as Tim mentioned.

It is also called money and NOT being a BIG name school for basketball.... you make it seem as if FSU is a UNC or as you say Kentucky type school in regards of basketball...

You cannot allocate to BBall when you barely make enough to fund your athletic department and Football is the major money maker. If we had 10 more million a year like the other conferences then maybe, but until then...
