No problem guys.. I've been around him enough and spoken with him enough to know that he's a great person and he won't disappoint y'all.. The players really respond well to him and he's got a great football mind.. He grew up as a coach's son and became a great one himself.. Question for y'all.. I haven't got to see y'all play too much.. What defensive scheme have y'all been running under Jimbo??

Just wanted to stop by and say congrats on landing one heck of a coach.. I fully believe he will do a solid job for you guys and help y'all get where you want to be.. Y'all are already an elite team and will only get better IMO.. Coach P is constantly praised for his elite recruiting abilities, and for good reason.. He's one of the best in the business.. As far as his character, he's a really good man.. I've been around him quite a few times, our home towns are close to each other and we've spoken together numerous times, and I can tell you that he's the type of man you want coaching your kids.. So again, congrats.. Good luck to you guys

I would be willing to bet that he would try to get Sal Sunseri to come to FSU.. Sal was LB coach at Alabama and was the Defensive Coordinator at Tennessee this year.. He's an awesome LB coach.. I know how good your ends are, but don't know as much about linebackers.. I'm certain he would do a great job for y'all.. And I know that some may not have a ton of confidence in hiring him as a DC since he's never held the position at the collegiate level, but if there's a man out there who can step into a big time job like FSU as his first DC job, and be successful, then its CJP.. Coach Saban grooms his assistants to be able to move up the ladder in the coaching world.. He works directly beside Coach Saban and he is the type who soaks up the knowledge and makes the most out of it.. What other position openings do you guys have on the defensive side??

Thanks for responding. Sunseri's name keeps coming up, and I think everyone here would welcome him with open arms. Assuming Coach P coaches the 2ndary, we need a LB coach, a possible DE coach, and a RB coach. Maybe one of those can also coach ST, cause we need one of those, too.
IMO, our starting group of LBs is solid, but the depth is very young and inexperienced, so a solid LB coach could be crucial. Plus, some very talented LBs are either committed or have us high on the radar.
I like what you said about Coach P. If what you say is spot on, which I believe it is (otherwise Jimbo wouldn't have hired him), I'm ready to put my faith into this situation.
Thx Again.

You're welcome.. I always enjoy a good, respectful football discussion.. Even when it's not something positive for my team.. Plus I have the flu right now and can't get out and do any duck hunting..
Sal is, IMO, one of the top LB coaches in the country.. I'm saying that because I've seen him coach and he's great at what he does.. Sure he had a ton of talent to work with at Alabama, but he got the most out of them and always had them in the best position to make a play.. Our guys have been NFL ready when they've come out..
I don't see Lance leaving Bama right now, but he would be a good candidate for DE coach.. If he left I'd be very surprised.. Just from what I've been told and read.. I trust our mods on our site..
As for a RB coach, here's what I posted in another thread on y'alls board about our RB coach, Burton Burns, possibly coming to FSU..
"Hey sorry to keep butting in on y'alls board, but I would be extremely surprised if Coach Burns left Alabama to go coach RB's anywhere else.. He and Coach Saban have a great relationship and he wouldn't make a lateral move.. I mean no disrespect to y'all whatsoever.. IF, and a big IF, he were to leave Alabama for any other reason than retirement, then LSU would be the only place I could see him going.. He's from that area so it would make sense.. "I have a good reason to believe that on Coach Burns..
As far as depth at the LB position, just give JP a couple of years recruiting for y'all and that will no longer be a concern..

Alright, my friend...I appreciate it. No worries here either on having a respectful football discussion on a message board. You are stuck at home, I'm stuck overseas right now, so I'm appreciate the correspondence very much. I'm ready to get back to the US of A!
I once watched a YouTube clip of SAL coaching up his LBs at Bama during spring ball...he was intense to say the least. Seemed to know what he was talking about.
I agree with you on your RB coach...just don't see him making a lateral move unless he is just interested in a new environment and/or new challenge. We keep hearing Larry Porter as a possible RB coach.
The next week or two should be interesting.
Go Noles!

Are you in the military or over there for another reason?? If so, then thank you for your service, sir!! Sal is very intense on the practice field.. I've been fortunate enough to be able to attend quite a bit of our practices over the years.. Every time I went while Sal was there, I would try to spend some time watching him coach during group work.. I always came away having learned something new.. Same with Coach Pruitt.. He is a very good position coach and y'all will be happy with what he brings.. Safe travels coming back!! Roll Tide

I'm honestly not too familiar with Larry Porter.. From what I was told, he has ties to the South Florida area, so that would be a plus for you guys in recruiting.. Although y'all seem to have recruiting down pretty good in the state of Florida.. Jeremy will only make the recruiting better too.. Any clue as to which recruiting area he will be assigned?? He's a great position coach.. I'm certain he will be successful as a coordinator too.. It was being floated around that he would be the top candidate at Bama as the DC should Kirby Smart leave.. So that should tell you what Coach Saban thinks of him.. And in the world of coaching, Saban's opinion matters.. Love him or hate him, it's true..

Thx RTRBB!
I'm actually not Military, but I am in Gov't service, and I'm currently on official business very far from Seminole Country. Being where I am now as well as the many countries I see every year makes me appreciate what we have at home. God Bless the USA!
I'm not only a diehard Nole fan, I also am a huge college football fan, and sites like this one (Noles247) keep me fulfilled even in some rough places in the world. Always checking the boards and articles. (
Back to the States very soon.
Thanks again for all insight on "Coach P!" Can't wait to see who him and Jimbo bring in.

Bama fan here.. RE: Coach Pruitt..
