As a fan, I would choose Pete Carroll to run my program over any coach in the country. His teams always performed in big games, his recruiting is second to none, and his style is the most fun of any coach since Bowden in his day. The man has style and personality which is devoid of 95% of coaches today.

I think Carroll is a very good coach, but the last few years under him, USC was performing poorly in their bigger games.

The only real point to be made here is that there are a ton of different ways to be a successful coach. Carroll found one that works for him.

Wrong. His 2nd to last year he was 12-1 with one of the best teams ever not to play for a title. The next year he had a mass exit of coordinators, coaches, and NFL talent. He started a true freshman at QB and injuries decimated his OL and he went 9-4.

I loathe the media blackout but all I want to do is win. I do hate reading Miami's detailed practice reports with 10 people interviewed and then ours are three sentences with two about how someone is wearing a blue visor and the other sentence is about some guy named Foose not being dressed out.

and that's why his teams constantly lost focus during the season and why players that progressed into the NFL from his era have been mostly gigantic busts.

just pick a great player from those USC teams and there's probably a 70% chance you can describe their pro career with words and phrases like lazy, shit work ethic, self entitled, immature etc.
