Baron looks like he just closed the door on the Big12 speculation in his statement.

Doesn't matter, the decision isn't his.

Besides, quit reading anything this... there's a process to be followed here.. people need to remember that.

TAMU was a LOCK to the SEC for forever... but yet you got mixed signals and fans freaking out for months on end up to the day it was offical and they had the actual press conference. Why? Same reason, there's strategic reasons for everything. Some are political, most are legal.

Patience is a virtue here. Just sit back, and wait without worry, it will be the best thing you can do for yourself.

    Got a quote?

And when asked if there was anything to keep an eye on between now and August 15, when FSU would be required to notify the ACC it was leaving, Barron said "No".

"We are not seeking anything, we are not expecting anything, there are no conversations that are going on

    GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!

  • Thanks. That's about as vanilla as they come.

  • Expansion was discussed, just not publicly in those meetings because all that information would be made.....public.

Haggard stepping down was expected as was his replacement who is NOT a Barron puppet as some may suggest.

NOTHING will happen until the NCAA announces what it will be doing for a NCAA playoff format.

    You are correct.

To all - Barron is a pretty new President, and doesn't have influence or a hold over the BOR. To conspiracy theorize otherwise, would be foolish. My point? - don't read into the BOR change.... it wasn't unexpected.

Fun fact: Bense's sister is president of the university of west florida.

If he's anything like her, he loves him some football. She was a huge force behind finally getting the ball rolling on adding football (hasn't been officially added yet but ball is rolling). She loves what athletics in general can do for a school and she was at a ton of the games I worked while I was with the UWF Sports Information Department.

  • It's at best woefully ignorant to suggest Allan Bense is a "puppet" of any kind.

Bense is an excellent choice for BoT chair with his political history. Many in state leadership got their feet wet while he was Speaker or a senior Representative. Undoubtedly has much more political clout than Haggard ever could. And don't think he was just a silent board member in the past. Not being vocal doesn't mean you're not exerting influence.

Fwiw, Ingram Smith said that if anything, Bense is in the Haggard-Smith camp. Those folks, and the Andy Millers, have always prioritized success of FSU football. They very much understand the relevance of money in the future of CFB. They are some of our largest donors, folks.

Bense is an excellent choice to steward the interests of the University. He knows how to get stuff done. And considering Bense has long been considered the next BoT chair, there will be no change in the possibilities of leaving the ACC.

Yep. If Allen is anything like Judy, he's pretty savvy on the subjectbof college athletics. She is a sharp, sharp cookie.

Good to see ya over here...we need more Pensacolians...Pensacolans...San Diegoans...

  • Too bad my days as a Pensacolan ... Pensacolian ... person living in Pensacola are most likely over. Unless I somehow end up working with the Ice Flyers again.
