Am I the only one who laughs at the "Fire Ham" talk

  • I know we have struggled bad this year, but we have pulled off many upsets in his years here. Not to mention 4 straight years of the tourney with many years before that getting snubbed. Then we also have an ACC title. So am I the only one who finds it comical?

  • Nope he is a good coach. If he screws up with Wiggins on board I will complain but not yet. Our team is young and last year was great.

FSU fans are delusional all around IMO, fire Jimbo fire Ham etc. Who are we going to replace them with? We aren't a Basketball school and both coaches have brought our program to new/old heights.

Our program has improved remarkably under him... before year started I believe we had the 3rd most conference wins in the last 4-5 years. The reality is however, Hamilton is a 64 year old coach who has never coached a team past the sweet sixteen. Hamilton is not the coach of our future. I have no clue if you fire him or just don't renew his contract (I'm glad I don't have to make those decisions).

  • Our offense is the same old garbage we've had since he's been here (Stan Jones), the only difference is we don't have an elite defense to help cover it up. A rebuilding year was to be expected after losing 5 seniors...

  • Ham has done an awful lot with, at times, very little. Great coach, mentor, recruiter. You can't fire Ham. You just can't.

  • I do think it is interesting to think about. Ham in no way, shape, or form deserves to be fired. His accomplishments have already been listed so I won't go down that road again. However, as someone else mentioned I don't think he is the coach for the future.

I wonder how long he plans on coaching. I personally wouldn't mind him staying here until he's ready to retire. We lost alot this year so to me this year is a fluke. I think we will be good over the next 2-3 years.

  • Ham has done a hell of a job. 4 tourneys in a row. Probably back again next year.

We are not a duke or unc. that is not our level of water for bball. We are a football school.

  • Yeah he deserves a few more years. I think he will leave at the right time. I just hope stan jones isn't promoted or we will regress

  • My only complaint is the offense. It loos like a backyard bball game with our oftenest. Every year it is the stupid turnovers. I don't think he should fired though considering this is the first year in a while he hasn't fielded a decent team.

  • I agree he should be given a few more years, then hopefully retire. As long as Stan isn't the walk in hc. I understand we aren't Unc or duke, but prior to billy Donovan, uf had 1 elite 8 team in their program and he has 5 I think. We need a young hc who can build his program and continue developing the talent that ham will leave him.

  • This team is ridiculously young. Gotta give this one another year and a 1/2.

    I completely agree with this

  • They are going to be outstanding next year. Outstanding. We do need another answer in the post, but we should be able to get someone ready by next season.

  • The hardest thing for many coaches is a change in philosophy, whether Offense or Defense. I think that is all that is needed. I've watched and been a fan of FSU since the old Metro days and Pat Kennedy was there when I was at FSU. All coaches know the same X's and O's, it's about recruiting talent and then developing that talent. The warning sign is when a coach will not change the things that are not working.

  • Just a question, was Florida considered a basketball school before Donovan?

I know the easy response is to point at their resources and say that's the reason for the change but I doubt that. I think once they had the right coach in place they saw what types of success they could attain and maintain and invested properly from there. Hamilton has raised the bar for us and that is what he needs to be held to, not what we were years before he got here. I don't hear anybody saying we use to be a girls school as justification for why Jimbo should be excused from a lack of production. I think the same should be true for our basketball coach.

  • I think he's done a good job too.
He lost too much experienced leadership to have had high expectations for this year.
FSU will be better next year and for years to come.
I also happen to appreciate the fact that he does a great job with the kids off the court too. His graduation rate is stellar and he demands that his kids go to class, studyhall, and develop people skills.
He's a good man and that's why he's able to recruit as well as he does.
