UVA doesn't have top end talent. there are least 5 miami players before you would take the 1st UVA player.
UNC is comparable and I agree VT probably doesn't have more NFL Talent than miami.
Miami underperformed under golden now matter how you spin it. What makes him better than Shannon? Not his record? They had closer losses? They still lost to lousy teams with far less talent or awful records.

Him being a "candidate" for the Penn State job is also a PR stunt by Miami and/or by Golden's agent. Penn State has a ton of money and a huge fan base. Sorry but there is no way they would hire a guy who took a talented and experienced team and made it worse than it was under Randy Shannon.

They are trying to save face for recruiting purposes.
He will have a out clause trust me no one is that stupid not too.

Anyone who thinks UVA has more talent than Miami is a complete and total idiot. Miami has more talent than everyone in this conference except for FSU and Clemson.

I guess I'm an idiot, because I would take VT's team every day of the week, and twice on Sunday, and kick Miami's ass with their roster. The DMV area (where VT gets 85% of their players) have been churning out top talent more than ever over the last decade. Kids are taking more of an interest in football compared to basketball, which was king in this area for a long time.

It wasn't a PR stunt. Just a maneuver by his agent to try and get more money after Miami screwed him with the Shapiro scandal. Shannon's salary for his first 3 years was like $900K-1M. He only made like $1.5M last year. I have a difficult time believing Golden signed for more than that last year and I have an even more difficult time believing Miami increased that number AND added 4 years onto his contract.
This just wreaks of them trying to save whatever recruiting class they can.

Agree. No one should assume this means anything until the details are released. I bet the buyout has actually been reduced.
