ACC and Orange Bowl agree to deal

The ACC announced today that they have agreed to a 12 year extension with the Discover Orange Bowl. The game will feature the ACC champion and will be moved to New Year's Day at 1 pm beginning in 2014. Huge news for the conference.

I may be wrong but I thought the big east is out and the orange will take the best avail to play vs ACC champ.

Orange is attempting to set up ACC Champ vs. highest at-large team according to the committee.

The Orange Bowl gets positioned better out of all of this but I'm not sure this helps FSU at all. It doesn't change our financials any.

The worst of the bcs bowls. Hopefully we're not tied to the big east but the orange has lost its luster.

What a ridiculous statement. In what way does it mean that... because you don't want them to?
We have been already tied to the OB for years with decreasing quality of match ups as time goes on.
In other "huge news" that I'm sure will excite you, they just added a fantastic new band to the lineup on the Titanic. Should prove to be a real difference-maker.

It's probably being played on the same day as another "BCS" bowl. There is always a day game and night game for the BCS on New Years day.

Money changes all the time, ACC is guaranteed a slot in the playoff pretty much and will take in big money from the orange bowl. Also sounds like the big 12 is sticking with 10 teams so this move is good for Fsu. Bcs games = more money

No it doesn't. This doesn't help the ACC or FSU "close the gap" on other conferences. It just means the ACC hasn't turned into the Big East yet and become irrelevant for now.

and tell me how it doesn't? it actually guarantees just that. it's just as good as chance as any other conf. also it matches up with the best at large team. and if you have one ACC team in the playoff then the next best ACC team will play in the orange bowl. So that is two teams in Bcs bowls or whatever you want to call them now. sounds like you need to do your homework
