ACC Officiating

  • So, if the Noles bolt, how bad do the ACC refs rain the pain on us? The good news is, the world will be watching and these refs will be in the spotlite imo...

    NoleDude

  • Was thinking the same thing.

    gonoles1

  • They were in the spotlight last year and were called out more than once in some of our games.

  • Last year they were watched but most just said FSU had sour grapes... This year will be different, the ACC was exposed for its anti FSU/football stance with this contract. Will be interesting to watch...

The fans said that, but not the commentators especially in the Miami game. Mike millian and his partner basically said those refs should be suspended for some of the calls they made.

  • If FSU leaves the ACC, it needs to file a restraining order in Federal Court barring ACC refs from working FSU games during the lame-duck period.

Who cares? If we play to our ability they can't lose us any games. And we will get the last laugh if we wind up making more money than the ACC and their refs.

The eff they can't lose us any games!!!

When the game is close b/c both teams have the same skill level, those refs will jam it up our cornhole. All day, every day and twice on Sunday. I have zero reason to think otherwise. I don't care what anyone on this planet says, the ACC refs intentionally kill us. They WILL and HAVE lost us several games.

There isn't a single team in the history of college football that played to their ability every game of every season. Two of the greatest teams I've ever seen - Miami '01 and USC '04 - had a couple of games that they mailed in and still won. The ACC refs could easily cost us one or more of the Clemson, VT, NC St, and UF games even if we played relatively well. God help us if we have an off day during one of those games.

    95nole

  • If us and Clemson both decide to leave the ACC, who do the refs screw harder? I'd imagine it's how I feel when I watch the Jets and Patriots play, I just want them both to lose somehow...

    EnterTheOcho

  • A lot of conspiracy theorists, I see. Ever consider that the ACC refs are simply incompetent at their jobs? They "screw" every team in this league throughout the year.

    fsukum

  • It's not just about refs possibly hurting the Noles chances of winning a game. Twice last year they blatantly ignored a horse collar tackle that could've blown someone's knees out. These refs could ruin a young mans career.

Yea, they seem to be really incompetent in those FSU games. Some of those games were they took 5 minutes to make a call (that was wrong) were down right embarrassing. And anybody that doesn't think its possible for refs to blow a game, is wrong. Just hoping we get the f out of the ACC and all this will be solved.

    NoleDude

  • Ok nancies.

I'd agree with you wholeheartedly if I hadn't seen ACC Refs move the ball forward on measurements TWICE last season.

  • I honestly don't know how they could possibly be worse. Aside from tackling an FSU player during a play.

What about the wake ref that tried to tip an EJ Manuel pass?

I've seen this across conference and work for us as well.

I think the definition of horse collar is not what fans think it is. Getting around teh shoulder pads from behind is not a flagged horse collar unless the defender wraps his forearm around the player's neck like a sleeper hold. That's JMO based on how I've seen it called or not called.

Now at least one of those non-call horse collars happened a good deal out of bounds as I recall and that's a completely separate issue.

Simply not true! Has nothing to do with the forearm around a players neck or sleeper holds. Those maybe other penalties but not a horsecollar.

No, the definition I've read says grabbing a player from behind by the collar of their shoulder pads and pulling them down for a tackle. The only time that's legal is in the tackle box and/or the QB in the pocket. I found it on a couple sites. The rule has been around since 2008 for the NCAA and 2005 for the NFL. Someone please post the exact rule on here.

Again as I said, my opinion is not based on the definition from the rule book but how it is actually flagged or not flagged.

Based on the definition, you could call holding on at least one guy almost every play. Pass interference is another judgment call that is flagged in some cases and in some cases not but definitely doesn't follow the exact letter of the law as stated by the rulebook.

  • FSU = Andy Dufresne

Another year of prison rape won't matter. The escape tunnel is almost done, just waiting for a good thunderstorm before we head out west.

  • I'm sure the calls won't be any worse. I don't know how they could get worse than last season.
