2012 Breakout Player?

  • Who do you think will be our breakout player(s) of the year this year? Immediately I want to say KB but I think he's pretty far down on the depth chart to be getting all that many receptions. I'm going to say Nick O'Leary and James Wilder. NOL will be a guy teams are planning against by the end of the season and JWJ will turn a corner in a major way after his wake up call this spring, and embrace his role as our "big back." Nationally I think Rashad Greene will garner a lot of attention and earn some type of post season honors. I think Christian Jones will also get a lot of national attention on the defensive side of the ball, as will Lamarcus Joyner. LJ has All-American written all over him. In all honesty there's so much talent on this team I could see an All-American at every level on D, but most likely not on offense.

    Nothing groundbreaking, I know, but the lack of news/discussion topics this week is driving me insane!

    Devonta Freeman - OL continuity, a year of experience, more S&C, weaker opposition. He'll be fighting off CT & Mario for reps, so it should beinteresting

    Christian Jones - position change will free him up to cause some serious mayhem. He won't be Jarvis Jones, but he coukd be close, IMO

  • My hope is for 5 out of this list; Irving, Matias, Barron, Stork, Jackson, Glauser, Faircloth and Watson. Anything short of that is going to be another ho-hum season.

  • Matias and C. Jones. Moving into Bradham's spot, you will see similar things out of Jones this year as Nightmare last year.

  • Nick O'Leary on offense. There was a reason we were force feeding in the spring game.

    Demonte McAllister on defense finally gets the reps to realize his full potential.

  • Defense: Tyler Hunter will be a great replacement for M. Harris. I think Telvin Smith will be huge for us. Terrance Brooks as a full time starter will be a stud.

    Offense: Christian Green will figure out how to stop tripping on a blade of grass thus finding the end zone. Cam Erving may be more of a surprise than a breakout player. Holding out hope that Wilder stops running into the backs of lineman and runs through the holes they WILL create.

  • I think brooks will have a breakout year. On offense I'm hoping Rodney will become a deep ball threat.

  • On D im going with T. Brooks. Him in the back secondary with Frankenstein will be amazing. I love our Defensive backfield.

    On O im going with Kelvin Benjamin. There was a reason he was the top pick for the spring game. I think we really see him alot in the red zone and he racks up greg carr like numbers.

  • I think our offense will look totally different this year as far as the names you see.

    OLeary, Wilder, Benjamin will be names we see alot

  • I think one of Haulstead, Smith, and Green really go off and ends up being the pair with Greene as our two truly elite WRs. Benjamin is a year away IYAM.

    I think 12 months from now we'll look at one of Matias/Jackson as "good" and one as "going to be freakin awesome". Can't say for sure which one I'd say is more likely to be the latter. I honestly lean towards Jackson.

  • So many can be listed. That just speaks to the amount of talent the roster has on it.

    Offense has guys like Greene "if you don't think he broke out last year", Haulsted is back, Pender, O'Leary, Bracy has world class speed, that should be fun to watch. A bigger Trindon Holiday?

    Defense not sure how guys will break out with so many known studs already there. Stars at every position some two deep. All three ends are already good, but I think Tank could have a big season and end up the best. Jernigan broke out last year, Goldman could have the same opportunity. I still really like McAllister too, he could finally put it all together. I know people are down on our linebackers, but I think a trio of Jones, Moody and Smith could be nasty together. Hunter is a good pick at corner aside from Waisome. Safety is fun to diagnose right now. Joyner needs no introduction, but Brooks will have a monster season and become a household name.

    Can you tell how excited I am about our defense? If you're not, you're not a fan.

    Just one? I will go with Bracy.
