Fisher on Maryland "It's a double-whammy game".
Fisher is praising Maryland's defense. Said they have good athletes and do a good job.
"I've never seen quarterbacks (like that)" -- Jimbo on Maryland's QB injury situation.
Said he lost 4 or 5 centers before Dameyune Craig's senior year.
Fisher on losing so many players at one position (Maryland's QB situation): "It's a tremendous obstacle."
Fisher is talking about all of the FSU players who played QB in high school...Scooter Haggins was full time, Christian Green was a good runner, Tyler Hunter saw some time at QB and Nick O'Leary can "throw the heck out of the ball".
Fisher said the team came out of VT banged and bruised, but "very good". Said the day off afterwards helped.
Fisher said Maryland's offensive game plan will not change just because they are using different quarterbacks. Said you change one guy when you change a QB, but when you change a game plan, you change 11 guys.
On EJ's drive: "I think that's what the really good quarterbacks are able to do."
Makes comparisons to Marino, Montana, Favre in that if the ball is in their hands at the end of the game, they're confident.
Fisher is praising Manuel's ability to close games late. Also pointed back to the final drive against Maryland his redshirt freshman season.
Fisher says Tyler Hunter's decision making at PR was "very disappointing" last week.
Jimbo says EJ's drive is a big confidence builder: "Now I know I have that in me. I don't have to wonder."
Sticking with Tyler Hunter at punt returner.
Fisher says he's so hard on the younger players at practice to simulate pressure. "I want to see if I can break them."
Fisher says catching a punt is one of the harder things to do in football.
"Catching a punt is one of the harder things to do in football … some guys make it look easy." -- Fisher
Fisher says he thinks Greene being able to focus on receiver (i.e.: not punt returns) has helped him.
Fisher on Hunter's performance: "He had some of the best plays of the game, but he also had a rough night."
Fisher said they are thinking about going to an up-tempo offense full time again, but he said that can expose your defense to certain things.
Fisher on using no-huddle: You can expose your defense to some things by doing that. Depends on who they're playing.
Fisher on rhythm: "It's critical in any sport."
On fumbles at VT: "We emphasize ball security, but when it gets cold like that ... that's why I didn't want the sleeves on."
Fisher on the ACC championship: "The key for us is to understand how important Maryland is to us and focusing on them and not the ACC championship."
Called Maryland the "only team in America right now".
Fisher, in a nutshell right now, is speaking of the importance of home-field advantage.
