Hoefeld details FSU official visit

Ryan Hoefeld

Hoefeld thinks that the FSU coaches, as well as Ryan Green, made a positive impact on the recruitment of Matthew Thomas.

New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin offensive lineman Ryan Hoefeld goes in-depth about his official visit to Florida State and says that he is ready to sign with the Seminoles.

    • Ryan has been solid as a rock in his commitment to FSU, and you always love seeing that. I will be interested in Austin Golston comments.

    • Sounds good for Thomas, bad for Golson though

    • Nothing but good news about Thomas so far but still iffy on Golson hope he sticks with us.

    • Sounds like this kid is sold out and all in for FSU. That's what I want, kids who truly want to be apart of not only the football team for 3-4 years, but apart of the University itself for a lifetime! Go Noles!

    • Can't imagine two better ambassadors for the program than Green and Hoefeld. Hoefeld at 287lbs!? When he committed wasn't hebarely 250?

Good vibes re. Thomas; not so good re. Golson.

    • The only way I could see 6 going to FSU is if he's just dead-set on getting out of Miami, and I haven't heard anything that suggests that. Nothing else makes sense to me.

      Other potential factors:

      1. Money -- I honestly don't think this is a factor with him. If it were, he'd already be signed, sealed, delivered to Bama.

      2. His brother -- He goes to TCC and supposedly is transferring to FSU. I understand wanting to go to school with his brother, but I don't think that's a deciding factor.

      3. Sanctions -- The 2nd self-imposed bowl ban and the recent developments should help quell concerns about the sanctions affecting his chance to win in college.

      4. Playing time -- 6 will play wherever he goes.

      5. Pipeline to the NFL -- 6 will get to the NFL wherever he goes.

      6. Coaches -- FSU's staff is in flux, and his chief recruiter just switched sides. And in terms of likeability, Golden v. Fisher is a rout.

      7. Competitiveness -- FSU is ahead of us, but that will probably change next year, as we have 20 starters back, and FSU is breaking in a new QB.

      8. Family -- FSU can try to preach the family angle, but that's a serious losing battle. He's from Miami, his boys are from Miami, and his coach is a diehard Canes fan.

      9. Mama -- Despite the Whoreslant puff piece, his mom has wanted him at Miami from jump. Remember the "Mom says Miami" tweet?

Add it all up, and I can't see 6 going up there UNLESS he just has his heart set on leaving home for school.

That's understandable, but I haven't seen any evidence that that's the case.

    • You just said the only way he goes to FSU is if he just wants to get out of Miami, and then listed 9 other reasons why he also may want to go there. Huh???

Lets face it, your first statement...the opposite is true. If MT wants to stay in Miami, he will go to Miami, every other logical reason would say go to FSU.

      Money..we have an NFL defense.
      Brother...lives in Tallahassee.
      Sanctions...you have them...we don't.
Playing time...just lose 2 starters and 2 starters will be SR's, he will start as a SO if he is any good.
NFL...like I said...all of our starters go to the NFL on defense.
Coaches...Our coaching is better than yours unless you are talking relationships and that is because you just hired the guy we had recruiting him for 2 years.
      Competitiveness...'nuff said.
Family...like I said, staying close to home is Miami's only advantage.
Mama...I think this is covered under "Family"

Add it all up, I can't see what Miami has over FSU other than staying close to home.

You forgot to mention that you have a pretty damn weak defensive line.

That's the main reason they got Duke and in the end Tracy. Duke wasn't seeing any other team but the Canes. Tracy flirted but wanted to stay home in the end. Could be the same with MT6.

Recruits LOVE Jimbo. He may be more intense and critical to his players once they are enrolled, but on the trail he is a much more relaxed and kind person.

    • and another thing, FSU has completely dominated Miami as of late. We pounded you in 2010, would have pounded you in 2011 if not for being hosed by the refs, and statistically dominated you again in 2012. But I guess 6 didn't watch any of those games..

    • Not saying he goes to FSU but if the canes are so confident why do they need to come here to convince us?

I love how y'all think your going to get off on sanctions. What blows my mind from Miami fans is that they cannot grasp the concept that the NCAA answers to no one. They do what ever the hell they want. DO you honestly think they care about the recent developments? They are just going to delay announcing what they found until this blows over and then they are going to hammer you.

After they bend your beloved University over y'all are gonna piss and moan about how bad y'all got screwed and say you will win your appeal not realizing that when you appeal you are appealing to the same people that laid down the sentence.

All the recent developments do is push back the sanctions and keep the threat of sanctions as a tool for other teams recruiting against you.
