After watching this kids highlight video I'm in love with this pick up. This kid is a bulldog in the trenches, when he gets his hands on you you ain't getting away.

I really like this kid. Mean, athletic, tecnicallybsound. He only needs to get bigger and stronger.
And i love that he is already thinking aboutbrecruiting Tim Williams.

Not to be negative but this kids size reminds me of Coach Trick's other undersized recruits who ultimately didn't work out (easily overpowered by 300 pounders).

He's in highschool, at 275 lbs, and shouldn't be expected to contribute for 2 years AFTER stepping on campus.

He should have three years to gain weight . In three years he will be a redshirt freshman. I think he can gain 25 pounds by then.

He'll get on campus with both Barron and Lovelady ahead of him as a junior and RS sophomore. He'll be able to sit back a couple years gaining 10-15 pounds of muscle a year and hit it as a RS sophomore at around 300 pounds.

I think most schools were recruiting him at C...most other sites have him listed as an OG...but you know recruit sites don't really list you by what position you play in high school they put you where you project to play best.

Very pleased with the pickup, seems to be a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. We are progressing away from the days were our OL were forced to play so early with that he has plenty of time to put on weight and grow into a 295 lb center. Also like the staff making a presence in the state or LA.

Center. Who will play north of 300 and have 320+ Denson next to him.
Given that Barron is highly unlikely to leave early, this kid shouldn't have to see the field until his RS Soph year in 2015.

napoleon, a lot of HS teams put their best OL at RT because a lot them are right handed and want to run the ball predominantly. Teams that throw more with a right handed QB, would use him at LT most likley.
It's like in college baseball, I'd bet most infields are full of HS SS's and outfields, Center fielder's.
But then guys may project better at other positions as they advance a level.
Hoefiled doesn't have the length or girth to play OT in college, but his exceptional quickness, tenacity and football IQ make him a strong candidate at Center or even Guard. He kind of reminds me of Stork and IMO, that is a compliment.
The other thing I think people get caught up with numbers. I've seen 300lb HS OL not play as powerful or dominate like Hoefield. And the coaches have seen his frame in person, so they must believe that 35-40lb won't hinder his plus mobility.

Geez, based on film... this kid is a high 4 star. I mean the kids he's blocking are half his size, but he's definitely nasty and finishes. If he plays like that at the next level, it won't matter who they put in front of him.
Just wonder why he doesn't have better offers... nothing from LSU.

LSU already has a Center this cycle in Josh Boutte, a 4* that recently dominated a camp. And they average almost 325 along the OL.
I'm more surprised about Miss State not offering, but most of their OL come from the state of Miss.
fwiw, I think Hoefield will be better than Barron at some point.
