Florida State picked up their 7th commitment for the Class of 2014 Thursday morning, when Pensacola (Fla.) Pensacola Catholic linebacker Delvin Purifoy committed to the Seminoles.
Purifoy becomes Florida State's 7th commitment for the Class of 2014.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect has been high on Florida State for months and recently stated that the addition of Jeremy Pruitt as the new defensive coordinator, made the Seminoles even more attractive.
“Coach Pruitt was recruiting me to Alabama,” Purifoy said. “He is a great guy. He is a good man. He wants the best for his players. I really liked him at Alabama. He is a coach I like a lot.”
Purifoy’s commitment can be credited to the diligent recruiting efforts of both, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, as well as offensive line coach Rick Trickett, who has developed a terrific relationship with the Pensacola prospect.
Over the last two months, Purifoy has seen increased interest from Alabama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina and USF, however the four-star linebacker has maintained that Florida State has been his leader throughout the process.
“I love FSU,” Purifoy said. “I’ve visited a few times and just like being on campus. They defense goes hard all game long and I just want to be a part of that.”
Purifoy recognizes that Florida State has continued to improve over the last few seasons and he has taken notice in the changes that they have made to once again be considered as one of the nation's elite programs.
"I chose them becuase I see big changes being made," he said. "I see myself fitting in there with the changes."
Five months ago, Noles247 ran a segment called ”14 for ‘14”, which was a look at fourteen prospects that the Florida State staff is currently high on. Purifoy was included in that list:
Purifoy is currently listed as the No. 142 overall player and No. 8 inside linebacker in the 247composite ranking for the Class of 2014.
