'Noles land local 4-Star LB

Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby four-star outside linebacker Jacob Pugh selected Florida State over Alabama and Florida on Wednesday afternoon.

"I committed to Florida State," Pugh told Noles247.com.

Godby head coach Ronnie Cottrell confirmed that Jacob Pugh communicated his intentions to commit to FSU to 'Noles linebacker coach Charles Kelly this morning.

The credit for Pugh’s commitment belongs to the recruiting efforts of defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, as well as defensive assistants Sal Sunseri and Charles Kelly.

“They have recruited me as a staff,” Pugh said in a recent interview with Noles247.com. “Up there is like a family. They are like a unit there. I just feel at home at Florida State.”

The 6-foot-4, 221-pound defender has visited FSU on more than five occasions since the beginning of 2013. His familiarity with FSU is ultimately what led to his commitment.

Pugh is Florida State’s 11th commitment. He is also the third linebacker to commit to Florida State for the 2014 class, joining Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood five-star linebacker Kain Daub and Pensacola (Fla.) Pensacola Catholic four-star linebacker Delvin Purifoy.

247Sports.com ranks him as the No. 208 overall prospect. He is ranked as the No. 18 outside linebacker and No. 23 prospect from Florida.
